The Right Reverend Tim Dakin 1st December 2015 TO: THE INCUMBENTS, PRIESTS-IN-CHARGE, TEAM VICARS AND CHAPLAINS OF THE DIOCESE IN THE UK Dear Friends, Celebrating Confirmation Some dates for 2016 Confirmation is an important milestone, and the Confirmation services across the Diocese in 2016 provide an exciting opportunity to hear what God is doing in the lives of individuals and to see how he is building up our communities. I am hoping that in the year ahead we can focus on the way in which Confirmation is an affirmation of our belonging together, not just as Parish communities, but also as Deanery communities and a Diocesan community, by placing more of an emphasis on Deanery and (at the Cathedral) Diocesan confirmations. Here are some important dates for your diary. The list of Deanery Confirmation dates is available here. Please encourage your congregations to celebrate with and support the candidates at these services; their stories of God at work can inspire us all. If you are arranging one of these services, please contact the Bishop well in advance and get the draft order of service approved at least three weeks before the event. Confirmation will also take place in the Cathedral on: Saturday 26 March at 8pm during the Easter Eve Vigil Sunday 15 May at 6.30pm on Pentecost Sunday Saturday 19 November at 7.30pm on The Eve of Christ the King For more information, please email the Reverend Canon Sue Wallace, Canon Precentor at Winchester Cathedral: sue.wallace@winchester-cathedral.org.uk and copy in Joyce Cockell at Wolvesey: joyce.cockell@winchester.anglican.org. Whether confirmed in the Deanery or the Cathedral, there will be a Confirmation Celebration in the Cathedral on Saturday, 24th September from 10.15 a.m. for all those who have been confirmed in the year with their families and friends. There will be some worship, creative fun and a BBQ – suitable for all ages. May you and your candidates be blessed as you journey together. With my good wishes, Yours sincerely, Wolvesey Winchester Hants SO23 9ND bishop.tim@winchester.anglican.org www.winchester.anglican.org T: 01962 854 050 facebook.com/CofEWinchester @CofEWinchester The Right Reverend Tim Dakin, Bishop of Winchester
