THIS FORECAST IS BASED ON OBSERVED SNOWPACK AND ICE THICKNESS REPORTS AND MEDIUM TO LONG RANGE TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION FORECASTS. CURRENTLY BREAKUP AT MOST LOCATIONS IS EXPECTED TO BE A FEW DAYS EARLIER THAN AVERAGE. THE ICE WENT OUT AT EAGLE MAY 6. THE ICE STARTED MOVING AT CIRCLE SUNDAY NIGHT. FROM STEVENS VILLAGE TO RAMPART THE ICE IS SHIFTED AND ROTTEN. THE ICE WENT OUT AT TANANA MAY 6, AT RUBY MAY 8 AND AT GALENA MAY 9. THE YUKON IS MOSTLY OPEN FROM TANANA DOWN TO AROUND KOYUKUK. THE RIVER IS RUNNING MOSTLY ICE-FREE AT GALENA MONDAY MORNING, WITH A LEVEL OF 111 FEET ON THE PILINGS GAUGE. AT KOYUKUK THE ICE FIRST MOVED ON SATURDAY AND MOVED OCCASIONALLY ON SUNDAY, WITH LOW WATER LEVELS. THE TANANA RIVER IS MOSTLY OPEN AND ICE FREE.
