PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER 7 AM SUNDAY MAY 10, 2015 SPRING BREAKUP SUMMARY FOR ALASKA.... THE SPRING BREAKUP FLOOD POTENTIAL IS RATED AS LOW TO LOW-MODERATE STATEWIDE. THIS FORECAST IS BASED ON OBSERVED SNOWPACK AND ICE THICKNESS REPORTS AND MEDIUM TO LONG RANGE TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION FORECASTS. CURRENTLY BREAKUP AT MOST LOCATIONS IS EXPECTED TO BE A FEW DAYS EARLIER THAN AVERAGE. THE ICE WENT OUT AT DAWSON MAY 4 AND AT EAGLE MAY 6. THE ICE REMAINS IN PLACE AT CIRCLE AND FORT YUKON. FROM STEVENS VILLAGE TO RAMPART THE ICE IS SHIFTED AND ROTTEN. THE TANANA RIVER HAS PUSHED THE YUKON ICE OUT AT ITS CONFLUENCE AND PAST THE VILLAGE OF TANANA. THE ICE CONTINUES TO SHIFT AT RUBY CREATING OPEN LEADS. AT GALENA, THE ICE RAN FROM ABOUT 3 PM TO 6 PM SATURDAY, THEN STOPPED AGAIN. WATER LEVELS ROSE FROM 110 FEET AT THE PILINGS GAUGE ON SATURDAY NIGHT TO 112 FEET SUNDAY MORNING. THE TANANA RIVER IS MOSTLY OPEN AND ICE FREE. ON THE KOYUKUK RIVER, THE ICE WENT OUT AT BETTLES ON THURSDAY. THE ICE WENT AT ALLAKAKET AND HUGHES ON TUESDAY, MAY 5TH.
