Package
Publishing
Sioux Ink is a full service publishing company. With our complete packages we charge an
honest fee, with no hidden costs, and take zero of your book sales profits. Zero. You keep
your profit, your copyright and your creative control.
Our commitment as a publishing company is to help authors serve their Soul’s Purpose
and to birth light into the world through written and audio communication.
The publishing industry has undergone dramatic shifts as more and more material is
birthed into the world with on demand printing and ebooks. This offers today’s author far
more publishing options. At Sioux Ink, we encourage authors to make the best business
decision for their ultimate publishing goals.
Prestige
A third-party press adds prestige and credibility to your book. The words “selfpublished” still have a stigma attached to them. People automatically assume that, though
you may have made the most sound business decision, your book was not “good enough”
to be picked up by a traditional publishing house.
When a reader or a potential client opens your book and sees a Sioux Ink imprint, their
esteem for your work grows and they take you and your business more seriously.
Investment
A traditional publishing house is often not the best business decision for an author. While
the author supposedly does not put upfront money into publishing the book, they rarely
make money. Authors today spend their own money to market and publicize their work.
They invest heavily to generate a tremendous platform through social media, blogging
and professional publications before a traditional publisher will even entertain their
manuscript. Most traditional publishing houses won’t even look at a manuscript unless an
author is represented by an agent, who will take 10-20% of all author royalties.
Sioux Ink
In exchange for the privilege of having a publisher’s imprint, the house spends little to
nothing on marketing for the vast majority of books it publishes and keeps over 90% of
profits. This is a great business plan for the publisher, this is not a good business plan for
the author. At Sioux Ink, you make a one-time initial investment for services.
Profit
An author can make as little as .25 cents per book sold with a traditional publishing
contract. With Sioux Ink your profit has many variables including pricing and number of
pages in the book, marketing expenses and marketability, but all mark up (between $4
and $10 per book) is retained by the author.
Simply writing a book is an enormous accomplishment. Publishing a book is a life-long
dream for many. However, that’s not enough to make a book a profitable endeavor. A
book is rarely your primary money-maker on its own. However, it can be an enormously
profitable tool as a lead generator and expert-maker.
A book, when strategically marketed and positioned can be the platform that pushes your
business to the next level. Whether it’s speaking opportunities, a draw to a coaching
program or product you’re offering, or it’s meant to spark a movement, Sioux Ink can help
you build the foundation you need to turn your book into a Super Charged Money Magnet.
Regardless of what stage your business is in, we can help you use your book to increase
your profits. Business profitability will be a primary focus of your publishing strategy and
intention.
Creative Liberty
Traditional publishing houses are businesses and they have creative control over an
author’s work. They may have a different vision about what will be “marketable” and will
often ask the author to change important aspects of the author’s message in order to sell
more copies. These business decisions will be in favor of the publishing house rather than
the author.
With Sioux Ink the author’s artistic integrity remains in tact. We too want to encourage
marketability from a business perspective, however, it’s marketability for the author not
the publishing house that is our concern.
Sioux Ink
Publishing goals such as the author establishing themselves as an industry expert,
speaker and to grow the author’s business will be a primary focus of the book’s intention.
As experts in the craft of writing, with great respect for the written word and our
marketing expertise we have much to offer regarding advice for a well-crafted and
marketable book. However, the author retains creative control over the final product.
Production Speed
It takes on average 18 months for a traditional publisher to get a book from the contract
to the shelf. If you’re writing a book to establish yourself as an industry expert and to
grow your business, the 18 months turnaround is far too long for authors to not capitalize
on their work. Sioux Ink—assuming the author is responsive to submitting drafts,
information and edits quickly—can have a digital and a paperback copy for sale on
Amazon within only 12 weeks.
Copyright
Copyright is the ownership of the creative content of your book. It’s intellectual property
with commercial value.
Traditional publishing houses own your copyright. Essentially they have the right to
change your book and market your book any way they see fit. They can halt printing of
your book when they don’t see it as a good investment. You will need their permission to
use the content of your own book for commercial purposes. Authors are restricted both
creatively and commercially when they sell the copyright to a traditional publisher.
Sioux Ink retains no copyright privileges for your book. Ever. This allows the author to
rebrand the book, commercialize the book for other purposes and to sell the book in any
forum or format they see fit.
What’s Included …
Concept Meeting: During this session Sioux Ink and the author will create a
creative concept for the book. Goals and strategies for the author’s business and ideal

established. And a creative vision for the book design and cover will be planned.
Deadlines will be chosen and committed to by author and publisher.

proofreading of the book. The first edit will focus on content and flow of the work, basic
Sioux Ink
proofreading changes will be made for grammar and punctuation during this edit,
however “content and context” will remain until the author reworks a draft and/or
approves recommended changes. Each consecutive draft will smooth the language, hone
in on the content and ensure that the author’s message is clear. There will be a final
proofreading after all content has been finalized before going to press. This service is
applicable up to 250 pages. Additional editing will be charged on a case-by-case basis
according to the scope of the work.
Professional Interior Book Design: The book will have a professional,
tasteful, book design including cover pages, copyright pages, dedication page, chapter
headings, section breaks, table of contents if applicable, author bio page, prologue and
epilogue, and a “contact the author” page at the end. Tastefully moderate links can be
included in the digital copy where applicable.

the package. Book cover will include fonts and color palette, spine design, incorporation
of business marketing logos where applicable and stock photography. (Author will incur
additional expenses if copyrights, photography and specialty art is chosen for cover
design. Sioux Ink will incorporate said art into the cover design).
ISBN numbers & Bar Codes: Each version of a book, digital and print, need
its own ISBN number so that it can be registered with the Library of Congress. Sioux Ink
will register an ISBN number and supply a bar code for paperback sales at no additional
charge.
Publishing via Create Space and Amazon: Sioux Ink will handle all
production and publishing tasks including blurb and description writing, contracts
between Create Space (the printing service) and Amazon (the distribution service).
Author and Sioux Ink will establish pricing based on market concerns.
90-Day Publication Date: Sioux Ink can and will have the book published
within 90 days. This assumes the author is incredibly responsive with edits and feedback
requested by Sioux Ink. Sioux Ink is very deadline driven and will help the author meet
reasonable deadlines. Author assumes a commitment to this deadline—arranging other
business to meet this goal—unless expressly requesting a looser timeline.
