Welcome to Paul Rumburg Elementary School
Physical Education
Mrs. Cannon
Health and Fitness play a valued and vital role in providing a quality, balanced education for all Entiat
Elementary students. The development of health and fitness skills is essential to the well being,
productivity and success of all our students. My goal is to provide students with the tools to take
responsibility for their own health and fitness and to develop health enhancing behaviors and attitudes
that will allow them to live happy, healthy, productive lives.
Entiat Elementary health and fitness skills have been developed through the State of Washington Office
of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALR’s) in
Health and Fitness. www.k12.waus/HealthFitness/standards.aspx

Physical Education Attire
P.E. students need comfortable, supportive shoes that will stay on their feet. Tennis shoes work best.
“Skater shoes”, sandals and big boots are very difficult to run/play in and are discouraged.
Appropriate attire is essential for P.E. classes. Elementary students wear their “street clothes” to
physical education classes. Please help them select clothing that is durable, comfortable and suitable for
the weather on P.E. days.
Water Bottles
Physical Education classes conducted outside do not have access to drinking water. Therefore, students
are encouraged to bring plastic water bottles containing water with them to class.
Illness or Injury
Medical excuses are needed if your child will be missing Physical Education. A note from a parent,
guardian or physician is required. Please be specific about how long your child should be excused and
when he/she may return to normal activities. If your child’s participation needs to be limited to certain
activities, please list the approved activities.
