WELCOME TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT NORTHWEST
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. YOU WILL HAVE PHYSICAL EDUCATION
THREE DAYS A WEEK FOR FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. WE WILL BE
LEARNING MANY SKILLS, GAMES, AND FITNESS ACTIVITIES IN
PHYSICAL EDUCATION. WE WILL ALSO BE WORKING ON
SPORTSMANSHIP AND TEAMWORK. WE HOPE YOU WILL ARRIVE
READY TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN!

courses.” Scroll down under the heading of “Schools” and click on
“Northwest Elementary.” Then click on “Northwest Elementary Physical
Education” from there you will be able to join the course.

AS PHYSICAL EDUCATORS, WE SUPPORT THE DISTRICT’S INITIATIVE
REGARDING CONTINUAL QUALITY IMPROVEMENT FOR PHYSICAL
EDUCATION. OUR STUDENTS HAVE COLLABORATIVELY DEVELOPED
A MISSION TO GUIDE THEM THROUGH THEIR PHYSICAL EDUCATION
EXPERIENCE. OUR MISSION IS TO LEARN ABOUT SPORTS AND
GAMES, TEAMWORK AND SPORTSMANSHIP. WHILE DOING THIS, WE
WILL BE ACTIVE AND HAVE FUN. IT WILL BE IMPORTANT THAT WE
PRACTICE SAFE WAYS TO USE EQUIPMENT PROPERLY. WE WILL
WORK ON STAYING PHYSICALLY FIT AND DEVELOP SKILLS THAT
WILL BE CARRIED THROUGHOUT OUR LIFE.

All students start with an E average for overall grade and conduct each grading period.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to learn about sports, games, teamwork and sportsmanship. While doing this, we will
be active and have fun. It will be important that we practice safe ways to use equipment properly.
We will work on staying physically fit and develop skills that will be carried throughout our life.

1ST OFFENSE--- STOP AND THINK!
2ND OFFENSE--- TIME OUT FROM 5-13 MINUTES (BASED ON AGE)

ILLNESS POLICY
IF YOUR CHILD IS SICK OR CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION, PLEASE
WRITE A NOTE TO THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. A DOCTOR’S NOTE WILL
BE REQUIRED IF THE CHILD CANNOT PARTICIPATE FOR MORE THAN THREE DAYS.
ATTIRE FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION
THE PROPER SHOES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEM FOR CLASS. YOUR CHILD NEEDS
SNEAKERS OR RUBBER SOLED, CLOSED TOE SHOES. BOOTS OR DRESS SHOES ARE
INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE TYPE OF ACTIVITIES YOUR CHILD WILL BE PARTICIPATING
DURING PHYSICAL EDUCATION. FAILURE TO CONSISTENTLY WEAR THE PROPER
FOOTWEAR MAY EFFECT YOUR CHILD’S GRADE. PLEASE SEE THE DISTRICT’S POLICY ON
THE DRESS CODE AS WELL.
IT IS ADVISABLE FOR GILRS TO WEAR SHORTS UNDER THEIR DRESSES OR SKIRTS SO
THAT THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE DURING ACTIVITIES. ALSO, PLEASE LABEL ALL
SWEATERS, COATS, JACKETS, HATS AND WATER BOTTLES.
