Greetings WWR 5th Grade Families!
Believe it or not, it is the time of year where we start thinking about preparing your 5th grader for Peter Muhlenberg Middle
School! We are here to help you with any questions you have about coming to middle school. Here are some upcoming events
to put on your calendar. Some of the events are designed specifically for 5th grade students and families, so it is important to
read over this calendar carefully to make sure you don’t miss any important information or events:
March 5th through
mid-April
Mr. Luikart, 6th Grade Counselor at PMMS, has started preparing 5th grade students at WWR
during their Guidance classes for middle school. Each 5th grade class will participate in
three full class lessons on middle school during this time.
Lesson One: A Day in the Life of a 6th grade Student
(students learn about the PMMS 6th grade schedule)
Lesson Two: Social Life & Academics in Middle School
5th Grade Visits PMMS!
Tuesday, April 16 at
1:00pm (during school)
1:05 – 2:05: The PMMS music department will present an assembly with
information about music opportunities. Fifth graders will learn how to become a part of
the PMMS music program, and will bring home paperwork with this information.
2:05 – 3:00: Meet the 6th Grade Teachers! Sixth grade teachers will present important
information that all 6th graders need to know. There will also be a question/answer time for
fifth graders to ask the teachers questions.
5th Grade Student & Parent Night
Wednesday, May 29th
at 5:30pm in PMMS
Cafeteria
This is an incredibly important night for 5th graders and their families! This event is
designed with all 5th grade needs in mind, including meeting teachers, meeting important
staff (principals, counselors, nurse, teachers), and also receiving a tour designed only for fifth
grade students and families. This tour will provide more details than the tour at the
Academic Fair. PLEASE try to come to this event, or send your 5th grader with another family
so they can get the information for you!
5th Grade Graduation
Wednesday, June 5th
at 6:30pm on WWR
Backfield
Your 5th graders are finishing Elementary School and celebrating with a Graduation
Ceremony on the backfield at WWR beginning at 6:30pm. This will be a great chance to
recognize all your student(s) has accomplished and say good-bye to the teachers and staff at
WWR.

5th Grade Tours
Tours are provided for 5th grade students and families at the 5th Grade Student and Parent Night
(see details above) by our Tour Guides.
If you can’t attend and would like a tour please call the PMMS School Counseling Office at (540)
495-2941 and we can schedule a tour.
PMMS PTO
We greatly welcome all parents to be on our PTO committee! Please contact a member of the PTO
Board to learn how you can start being a part of the PMMS family before your 5th grader arrives
next year!
