“Annie” Costume List Orphans The clothes should not fit very well – either too big or too small Ask your mom/dad/big brother or sister to borrow something old Use something you have outgrown but can still fit a little (pants too short etc) Shirt: long sleeved or short Can have buttons, no buttons or missing buttons With paint on it or holes in it Ask your dad for something he paints in Pants/Skirt/Skort: no blue jeans (they were not popular at that time) Holes in the knees is great! One leg cut off or shorter than the other Again, with paint on it Socks/stockings One each from 2 different pairs (so they do not match in size and/or color) No socks is fine too Old shoes with holes if you have them Bare feet will also be fine – not every orphan had shoes Hair: no pretty hair things for this part Simple pony tail with rubber bands or just hanging long Warbucks Mansion Staff These clothes should fit! And be neat and clean. Shirt: Plain white (girls can have lacy trim or designs on their shirt) Pants/Skirt: Dress code I would prefer something dark, but if you only have tan/khaki, use it (don’t go buy) Shoes: Nice, dressy (no sport shoes) Ties for the boys if you have one Hair should be nice & neat; use headbands, barrettes or whatever makes your hair pretty Staff prop: Bring a broom, feather duster, rag, sponge, dust pan, cleaning cloth – something to clean with New York Scene Bring a jacket or coat and hat to put over your mansion outfit Scarves and mittens/gloves are also fine (bring a store bag to keep them together) Other possible items: Large stuffed dog to “walk” on a leash (they should slide across the stage floor) A bag of some sort or briefcase Newspaper or book to read Wrapped boxes as though carrying gifts for Christmas Annie Red dress & nice shoes White knee socks if you have them Rag rollers for hair (think Mrs. Potter talked to you about this – we can try it & see) Orphan clothes Coat for mansion/NYC (dressy if possible) Miss Hannigan One piece dress or skirt and blouse with necklace that is “too much” bling (think Mardi Gras beads) The city of NY does not pay you enough to look really good; be a little dumpy Large sweater or cardigan & “old lady” shoes – even sport shoes will work if they are old Thick headband or scarf around your head Miss Farrell The professional business woman look: clean cut, high class Nice shoes & hair done in a pretty style This can be a dress or skirt and blouse Feminine briefcase or carry bag that looks classy: think Coach Coat for NYC (dressy if possible) Oliver Warbucks The billionaire – look like one! Snazzy clothing: suit, tie, dress shoes, briefcase Bald head optional – this one is up to you, Knox! Coat for NYC (dressy if possible) Drake The head of the household staff Refined & super neat! Moustache if you have one; bald head optional Dress one step higher than the rest of the staff Dress pants in a dark color Long-sleeved white shirt Bowtie if we can find one; regular dark tie if we cannot A vest or jacket of some sort Dress shoes Optional: carry a white towel draped over one arm
