An update on ROLL101 and what we have been doing.
Our committee of volunteers have been working tirelessly on the formation of ROLL101 and what it stands
for. This has not been an easy task and thank you to Kate and Paul for the work they have done to get
ROLL101 to where it is. ROLL101 Incorporated is now a registered charity with the Australian Charities &
Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) with Public Benevolent
Institution (PBI) and Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status.
ROLL101 is committed to its core values - to provide practical and emotional support to young people
seriously affected by chronic or terminal illness or by catastrophic injuries and, as much as is possible, to
direct 100% of funds raised to this purpose.
To do this we need your help. Currently ROLL101 and our volunteers are organising a fundraising night at
Penrith Paceway on the 23rd May 2015. On the night there will be entertainment, raffles, silent and live
auctions. A huge thank you to all the companies that have contributed so far, and in anticipation, thank you
to the companies that will be donating in the coming months. This, along with ‘Chad’s Challenge’, will be
the major source of raising funds for 2015. If you would like to attend the fundraising night please contact
us ASAP.
‘Chad’s Challenge’ is gaining momentum with Chad preparing for the trip. Chad is training at the gym 3
days per week and driving his buggy at every opportunity. We are very fortunate to have Emma Duxbury
on our committee - Emma is providing media training for Chad 1 day a week. In addition Geoff Gillett, a
close family friend and former Deputy Principal, is organising school visits for Chad to tell his story and
spread the message of ‘Chad’s Challenge’ and ROLL101.
Organisation for ‘Chad’s Challenge’ has been a mammoth task. It took over 3 months to modify the buggy
for Chad. Further work to construct and fit out the support trailer – many thanks to Vehicle Components,
Redarc, Dave and Eric for their support with this. The 4800km route from Kalgoorlie to Cobar has been
planned and set out. Approvals from Police and Transport Departments to drive an unregistered buggy off
road have been obtained. Thanks to all the States and Territories Departments for their assistance and
support.
‘Chad’s Challenge’ and ROLL101 are having an effect on the wider community with people from all over
Australia wanting to know how they can help. Whether it’s promoting ‘Chad’s Challenge’ and ROLL101 via
their social media or through company contacts, the support is coming. ROLL101 ambassadors, Steve
Richards, well known V8 racing car driver, Jamie Soward, NRL Penrith Panthers superstar and Danny Green,
World champion boxer, in our corner and will be helping to spread the word about ‘Chad’s Challenge’ and
ROLL101 to the wider community.
There will be further announcements regarding Steve, Danny and other high profile
personalities in the near future.
Nick Walshaw from the Telegraph will be interviewing Chad and running the story in
the Telegraph, just got to check when. This will be a massive boost for Chad and his
goals.
In the coming months we will be having a Media Day at Chad’s practice track. Celebrities, sponsors and
substantial donors will get the opportunity to get in the passenger’s seat with Chad and hold on for a lap or
two. This is something they will not forget!
If you would like to make a donation or get involved with ‘Chad’s Challenge’ and ROLL101, please contact
me. For more information go to www.chadschallenge.com.au or www.roll101.com.au
