CLOSED GROUP a): Course Title -: “Content and Language Integrated Learning for Bilingual Educators”
Mornings: Pedagogy and teaching strategy
Afternoons: Language (Vocabulary & Grammar) and Phonology pertinent to the school subjects taught
Course component: Modular sessions with reference to methodology, as well as practical workshops where there will be the chance
to work together in small groups on practical components. There will also be observations of experienced teachers.
Explanatory Notes & Course Rationale: They key difference between Programme a) and b) is that a) will incorporate all school
subjects.
50 hours – 2-week Course Programme:
25 hours per week (15 hours am, 10 hours pm, Friday pm social programme/excursions)
Accommodation: This will be in Executive Homestay, guaranteeing a high-quality home and above-average size bedroom with
private bathroom facilities, in addition to which there is Wi-Fi internet access. Many of the rooms have televisions. A weekly bus
pass, offering unlimited travel around the local area, is included. Executive Homestay is on a half-board basis during the week and
full-board basis at weekends. Packed lunch to be included where necessary.
Social Programme:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday nights: 7.45-9.45 pm - Hawley Club night at the school featuring: a movie, quiz night, Karaoke, Casino
Evening, International Cuisine or talk on an aspect of British Culture.
Friday afternoon: local, teacher-led excursion to Canterbury, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Whitstable, Sandwich or Deal.
Saturday: all day excursion to London, Oxford, Cambridge, Leeds Castle, Dover Castle or Rochester.
