I got into racing optimists when I was 6 years old. It was not until I turned 11 that I really started to enjoy sailing. Once I got into High School I became much more focused on racing. With a stronger focus on racing, I continued to get better at racing. Now in college I understand what kind of racing I like to do; and that is ocean racing. I have competed in many offshore races over the past few years while accumulating close to 2,000 offshore miles, while being a full time student. Goals: going forward: I want to do more offshore racing. Eventually I want to make the Volvo Ocean Race. I have the dedication, and love for the sport, now my goal is to get more experience, learn the tools of sailing, and get my name out there. At this point I will take any experience I can get. My specific goals are to increase my skills as a navigator. I want to learn about everything it takes to navigate the best race possible. While learning about navigating I also want to improve my skills on the bow. These are two areas that I want to improve myself each day we go to race.
