The Militarization of the Arctic
In regards to militarization of the arctic the nation of Poland would like to help find
reasonable and appropriate solution to the problem. Poland would like to find a solution that
would appeal to other nations whom have military, economic, and natural resource interests in
the arctic region. The nation of Poland, along with appeasing other nations, would like to keep in
mind the ecosystem of the arctic region and keeping it intact.
In recent years there has been countries such as the Russia and Canada whom have been
proving their interests in the arctic region. Poland sees the fact that the arctic area is of great
interest for key positions of military bases.Countries who have borders near the arctic may have
concern, because the want to protect their borders. Security should be of the utmost concern to
these countries. Therefore Poland would like to introduce a solution of making the area a demilitarized zone, for making the zone demilitarized no one would worry about invasion of other
countries. For other security reasons such as smugglers, bandits, and other illegal nuisances,
Poland suggest that we put a UN forces in their. Thus making the UN the only force within the
the demilitarized zone.
As in regards to economics and trade interests of nations, Poland would like to see the
arctic kept open as trade route. The arctic region could a great deal of importance when shipping
items, it could cut costs and time. So therefore we should have the arctic region open for trade.
For the economics and natural resources of the region, Poland feels as if the rights to the natural
resources should be split up on a map that is fair to all.
Poland also would like to see that the natural ecosystem be kept intact. The ecosystem in
the arctic area are still being explored, and poland would like to see that we continue your
exploration before any industrialization of the arctic. For this reason i believe we need to send
biologists, whether is be from poland or another nation, we would like see how the natural
ecosystem functions and reacts to industry of the area.
