St Martin’s Catholic Primary School Pupil Premium action plan
evaluated 2014- 15
Whole School Priorities identified in School Improvement Plan
 Secure rapid and sustained progress for all groups of pupils
 Ensure teaching is consistently good or better
 Raise attainment in writing, narrowing the gap with national results
Additional Funding for the school
In April the school received additional funding under the title Pupil Premium. This money is to be used to enhance the learning experiences
of the children, working with vulnerable families in order to raise achievement. The funding will enable school to narrow the disadvantage gap
by addressing inequalities and raising the attainment of those students in low-income families. We recognise that not every child in receipt of
funding is low-attaining and the funding will, in all cases, support the child to make at least expected progress and reach their potential.
The funding for 2014-15 is £12,000.
Key priorities
 To narrow the gap between the attainment of pupils
from disadvantaged backgrounds with nondisadvantaged.
 Train staff in early intervention programmes to improve
outcomes for targeted group
 To enrich the curriculum for those children accessing
new experiences.
Intended impact
Targeted additional support strategies of which result in every student
however financially disadvantaged, being able to have full access to the
curriculum and all our extra-curricular experiences. All students in the
target group who are currently underperforming because of the impact of
their disadvantaged background will make improved progress leading to
narrowing of any attainment gaps.

Characteristics of successful approaches:
We aim to spend the Pupil Premium funding in order to improve achievement and close the gap. Four key points to successfully spending the
funding at St. Martin’s are:




Understanding the importance of ensuring that day to day teaching meets the needs of each learner rather than relying on interventions
to compensate for less than good teaching;
Tracking and monitoring achievement data to check whether progress is being made and whether interventions are working and make
necessary adjustments;
Ensuring that the allocation and spending of the Pupil Premium is given high priority in terms of staffing;
Ensuring that all teachers know which pupils are eligible so that they can take responsibility for accelerating their progress.
