Seeking children with ASD and Anxiety and their parents to participate
in a research study investigating methods to train clinicians on CBT
Group Therapy




What will be involved in the research study?
Brief telephone screening interview
Research eligibility testing (child assessments and parent interview)
Brief research questionnaires completed after each standard of care clinic group session
Research post-testing once group is complete
Who can participate?
 Children with ASD and Anxiety ages 8-14 years and their parent or guardian who are interested in participating in
standard of care CARD clinic therapy groups. Groups meet weekly for 90 minutes for 14 weeks. Clinic groups are led by
licensed CARD clinic providers with experience in ASD and utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy strategies.
 Groups will be led by clinicians who have received different types of training on the anxiety intervention. This will allow
us to compare different types of training. All clinicians will have a standard level of training on the intervention.
What are the benefits of participating?
 There are no direct medical benefits for you or your child.
 Your child will receive two free research assessments of their ASD and Anxiety symptoms. After each, you will receive a
written research assessment report.
 Your participation may advance our understanding of best methods for training clinicians in treatment of ASD and
Anxiety.
What are the risks?
 Your child may get tired, bored or frustrated. Breaks will be taken as often as needed during re-search eligibility and post-
testing. If necessary, this testing can continue on an additional day.
 Discomfort with personal questions is another possible risk.
 Because of time commitment involved, we will be flexible in scheduling research testing.
