Does your child bike to school?
While I think it is great for children to bike to school I think we need to
be very mindful of their safety!! I would suggest to the parents of
children who are biking to school that you satisfy yourself that your
child is safe, maybe you could bike with them or behind a couple of
times and assess their ability to cope with heavy traffic around the
school. Much better to be safe than sorry. Perhaps a scooter is a safer
option?
Room 6 – Sophie – Determination
Amazing progress with your basic facts knowledge. You have
gone up so many steps on the Maths Ladder and you are
confidently displaying your new knowledge. By observing your
determination, many other children have been motivated to do well
too. You set a great example of being a determined learner. Well
done Sophie.
Room 7 – Westa – Patience
Completing three great weeks of learning at school. Ka pai! Keep
up the good attitude and have patience to work out problems when
things go wrong.
The astro turf is looking amazing and is a great asset to our school.
This has been a major fundraising effort on the part of our wonderful
PTA and they have worked very hard and we couldn’t have achieved
this without our school community supporting the fundraising events.
Well done and thank you everyone!

Mural opposite the administration building. We are going to hold a

parents/caregivers are most welcome to attend.

Hockey News
On Saturday the Pukete Eagles played two fast paced 13 minute
games during the festival day for the opening of the hockey
season. What a great effort from all players! Tiana and Kaitlyn
scored a goal each and Keira did some amazing goal defending
stopping a few shots on goal from the opposition in the first game
against the Glenview Breakers. The final score was 2-2.
The second game was against Rototuna Red and everyone played
really well. Ryan scored a goal in this game and McKenna did a
great job defending while Hayley, Azalea, Armani and Steph got in
there and attacked the ball. The Eagles won 1-0. Player of the day
went to Keira for her great defending in goal when it really
counted.
Thank you also to Toyworld Te Awa and to Jo Hall for organising
the Toyworld vouchers for the player of the day awards. We are all
looking forward to a longer game next week!
Pukete Seals played two shorter grading games in the Waikato
Hockey Association Festival day. The first game was against
Rhode Street Rascals whom unfortunately only had four players
but played a strong defensive game. Final score being 2 – 1 to the
Seals, both goals scored by George. The second game was
against Glenview Flyers, with the Seals winning 1 – 0. George
being the goal scorer again! Player of the Day and the Toyworld
Voucher was awarded to Emily for her continued effort and
determination. Emily was injured during the second game, but
returned to join and help the team. The Pukete Seals awarded a
Toyworld Voucher to the goal scorer in the Rhode Street Rascals
as a gesture of good sportsmanship and for fabulous play. The
Seals thoroughly enjoyed their first two games of hockey, keep up
the great work.
Flippa Ball
Team k lost to Te Rapa Torpedos 10-0 for game 1 Azalea got
player of the day for putting into practice what she had learnt last
term. Game 2 Tahlia got player of the day for being an effective
attack player and scoring 3 of the 4 goals against Pukete A.
Tianarangi got player of the day for team A against the Rototuna
Dolphins who won 4-1. She played well for her first game of flippa
ball and game 2 for team A player of the day goes to Cameron. He
played really well under unusual circumstances.
Please note there will not be a game on 31st
of May as it is Queens Birthday Weekend.
Medications at school
If you require medication to be administered to your child at school,
in order to follow safe practice, we require that an authority form be
signed, the medication clearly labelled with child’s name, dose to
be taken and at what time. The appropriate authority form can be
collected from the office.
First Credit Union provides a school banking service to all
pupils at Pukete School. Getting started is easy- just pick up an
application pack from the school office, fill in the application form
and return it to the school office. If your children are already doing
school banking, remember that the school banking is collected on
Thursday each week!
