2016 TERM DATES
Term 1 – 2 February – 15 April
Children’s Dance Performance
On Tuesday our children preformed the dances they had been
learning with Kate from Footsteps Dance Company, and I was rapt.
I thought all the children were absolutely fantastic, they were fully
engaged, and were very obviously enjoying dancing. I hope we
have ignited a passion in many of our children that they will
pursue. Thank you parents, for the great turnout and support.
Speech Finals
Our senior children have been working hard on their speeches and
the speech final will be held on Tuesday in Te Manawa. Please
note the times are approximate;
9:10am – Year 4
9:30am - Year 5
10:00am - Year 6
(Parents of those children in the finals will receive a note.)
Nepal Earthquake and Mufti Day Friday 3 July
In April a devastating earthquake struck Nepal causing great loss
of life and destruction. Mick Scott, one of our parents happened to
be in Nepal at the time working on a digital story for Fairfax Media.
Obviously when the quake struck he covered it. A life changing
experience I am sure. Today at assembly he shared some of his
experiences. Next Friday the money raised through the mufti day
will be going to a charity in Nepal that Michael supports called
Smilehigh. You can check out this charity at smilehigh.net. Before
the quake there focus was on dental health, now they are working
on quake recovery.
Keeping our Kids Safe
A reminder to parents about keeping children safe.
Have you discussed with your children scenarios such as;
You are late picking them up?
A stranger approaches them?
They get lost?
They are inadvertently home alone?
Do they know your cell number and address?
Do you let school know if your child is absent from school?

SPORTS RESULTS
Hockey
Last Saturday Pukete Eagles played against Glenview All
Rounders and drew 2-2 coming away with the same score as the
last time we played them. Our teams seem to be very closely
matched in skill and ability which makes for a very even game of
hockey. Everyone played well calling for the ball, supporting each
other, passing and sharing the ball around and some great plays
were set up for Kaitlyn and Ryan to score our goals. You all played
so well with only one sub and I hope you have lots of energy left to
face Te Totara on Saturday. Player of the day went to Kaitlyn for
her good positioning, defending and scoring one of our two goals.
Saturday 13th June
Pukete Seals played the Holy
Midgets with the final score being
one all. This was our toughest
game to date and all the Seals,
played their hearts out! You all
showed great sportsmanship and
displayed
the
virtues
of
determination
and
cooperation. Our one goal was scored by George, who never gave
up and was worn out after all his running! Player of the day and
the ToyWorld voucher was awarded to Kaia (pictured) for her
terrific attacking skills, she showed great determination and
grit. Well done Kaia! Choosing player of the day is getting tough
as all the Seals are giving 100%. Alexis had a great game getting
amongst all the action and also Ben, whom returned to support his
team after being injured.
Saturday 20th June
Pukete Seals played St Pius Arrows
losing one – nil. It was a tough game,
with St Puis showing great attacking
skills and all round defence. Player
of the day and the Toyworld voucher
was awarded to Alexis (pictured) for
her enthusiasm and the continued
support she shows her team
mates. Thanks to our Seals families
for their encouragement and
support. See you all on Saturday at
10.30am for another enjoyable game.
Pukete Smurfs played Deanwell Strikers winning 5-0. The Smurfs
played well keeping the ball in our territory. Our defenders did a
great job getting the ball back down our end. I’m loving the way
Ewan has really stepped up and it’s great to see his confidence
and skills shine. Sophie C as always, is like a little fox terrier
jabbing and tackling the ball. She never gives up and more times
than not wins the ball. She earned Player of the Day this week.
Great stuff Sophie. Breanna is another determined little player.
Loves to score goals and she scored a beauty! Supporters were
well impressed! She was awarded Smurf of the day. Kaia scored
two, Breanna two and Sophie C one. Emma, Lily and Mason had
an awesome game. This week we are concentrating on trapping
and moving with the ball before passing! Loving your work team!
