a car decal to each member present. The car decals will be mailed to new
members along with a welcome letter and membership card.
Diploma Frames & Class Rings –
o Diploma frames have been ordered and will be available for sale in the
bookstore in a few weeks. Two styles of diploma frames were ordered. A single
frame for the diploma only and a double frame with an etching of OTC at the top
and a place for the diploma below. The frames will sell for $149.99 and $199.99
respectively. The 10% Alumni discount can be used to purchase the frames. Class
rings are now available for purchase through Herff Jones. A Herff Jones
representative was on hand for the Graduation Gala that took place today with
order forms. An e-mail blast will be sent to the alumni group making them aware
of the diploma frames and class rings. It will also be posted on the Alumni
webpage.
Establishing a Board of Directors –
o In Progress. Ms. Mobley welcomed Ethan Causey, student representative, and
Alvie Coes, III as new Board members to the meeting this month. We are still
looking for new Board members. If you know of an alumnus that would like to be
involved, please make a recommendation to Ms. Mobley.
Affinity Groups –
o We will attempt to form Affinity Groups during the annual Graduate/Alumni
Reception on May 15. The Alumni Association will facilitate meetings and/or
networking events for the groups, but will not use association funds. The idea is
to encourage alumni of the same program of study or area of study (i.e. Health
Sciences, Industrial Sciences, Business programs, etc.) to connect and network
with each other.
iGot Campaign –
o The annual iGot (I Gave to Ogeechee Tech) fundraising campaign will be held on
March 12. The Alumni Association will solicit donations from the membership
through an e-mail blast and letters to those who do not have a current e-mail
address on file.
Alumni Events –
o The 1st Annual Graduate/Alumni Reception has been scheduled for May 15, 6:00
– 9:00 p.m. at Chops on Main. The reception is for current students who will be
participating in the Graduation Ceremony on May 16 and Alumni Association
members. Spouses and/or guests will not be permitted. The cost of the event
will be split between the Alumni Association and Student Leadership Council.
New Business:
 Graduation Reception – May 15, 2013
o The Walnut Room at Chops on Main has been reserved for the event. Hors
d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. There is no cost for
current graduates and alumni association members to attend. Maximum
capacity is 100. Save the Date cards were distributed to students who attended
the Graduation Gala today. An e-mail invitation will be sent to those who are
participating in the graduation ceremony and alumni association members.
 Alumni Newsletter & E-mail Correspondence –
o An alumni newsletter was distributed in February to Alumni Association
members via e-mail. It is also posted on the alumni webpage. Newsletters and
periodic e-mail notifications will be sent to alumni association members to keep
members informed about what is happening at OTC and with the Alumni
Association.
 Alumni Association Fundraiser –
o A possible Alumni Association Fundraiser was discussed. This would be separate
from the annual iGot campaign. Funds raised would go directly to the Alumni
Association. One option is to have a Casino Night fundraiser. This will be
discussed further at the next meeting along with other possible fundraisers.
