Guidance Notes

Free place means that the day rates for each of the two days of conference and the Annual
Dinner to the beheld at The Apartment opposite Belfast City Hall will be covered for two
successful applicants by NIRCG & NIMC.

The Secretary of NIRCG will inform the successful free place applicants by Monday 20 May
2013.
Assessment criteria / application guidelines

Applicants must be either :
Working in a paid entry level post which involves work with collections, for at least one year,
within a Local Authority museum in Northern Ireland or the border counties of Donegal,
Monaghan or Cavan.
OR
Volunteering for at least six months which involves working with collections, within a Local
Authority Museum in Northern Ireland or the border counties of Donegal, Monaghan or Cavan.

When describing the benefit of a free place to your personal or professional development,
please make reference to your CPD plan or other goal orientated plan, if relevant. If you do
not have a formal plan, please describe the benefits for yourself and your future aspirations.

When describing how the conference theme fits with your organisations objectives, please
make reference to any plans, briefs or strategies that are relevant. If you are currently
volunteering rather than in employment, please refer to the organisation with you are
volunteering.

