Dear reader,
Yesterday was 1st April, and it is part of an old tradition to play an April Fool's trick. While we would rather
expect this kind of joke from family members and friends, and for sure check the newspaper headlines more
thoroughly on this day, not many of us would probably expect big international coatings groups to play an
April Fool’s trick.
However, this is exactly what AkzoNobel chose to do and presented the first singing paint. No doubt! You did
not really believe in this product news for a moment. But to be honest: Didn‘t this fake piece of news leave a
faint anticipation of what could be in the future…? If we keep in mind, what extraordinary performance
features are already delivered today – like coatings systems that enable facades and other surfaces to
generate electricity – this press release is not only an April Fool´s trick, but may also allow us to sneak a
peek into the future of coatings R&D. Let’s see what will be…!

Bordeaux Digital Printink, a developer and manufacturer of
inks and coatings, and Sayar Group, a distributor of printing
packaging, sign and advertising materials, have finalized an
agreement naming Sayar Group a Bordeaux authorized dealer
in Turkey.

NIR-reflective pigments – Regulations for comparability needed
Recently I generated my first product overview regarding NIR-reflective
pigments. Within my research I encountered one major difficulty. It was
hardly possible for me to compile a table in which these promising functional
pigments are comparable to each other.
