To Whom It May Concern,
We would formally like to invite your esteemed scientific/clinical research
student cohort to participate in and attend the 6th annual Biomed Link
Conference (Biomed Link). This conference is organised annually by the
Biomed Link Committee, which are a facet of the St. Vincent’s Student
Society, situated in Melbourne. The conference aims to provide biomedical
students with an opportunity to present their work to peers and participate in
academic discussions in an open and friendly environment comprised of other
students. This also enables students the opportunity to develop their
presentation skills for future conference participation, thus is a great learning
opportunity for their future careers. The conference allows only student
participation to promote student inclusivity, thus allowing open discussion in
the absence of higher qualified peers.
Our conference is experiencing greater success each passing year with
vaster attendance and extraordinary speakers in the past, such as Sir.
Gustav Nossal. We are fortunate to have secured two of Australia’s most
esteemed scientists as guest speakers for the conference proceedings this
year - Professor Bob Williamson AO and Professor Ian Chubb AC – who
will provide valuable insight into their personal research experiences, the
current scientific research climate in Australia and the challenges we face in
an increasingly competitive international community. Such talks are
appropriate and developed for current student cohorts to understand the
current research setting they are developing their careers into.
We are in the early stages of marketing the event to Undergraduate, Honours,
Masters and PhD students across the country. Registration is FREE and only
open to students that are enrolled under a biomedical-related course and/or
undertaking a research project in a field of biomedical research.
REGISTRATION CLOSES: 4TH OF SEPTEMBER 2015
We would be thrilled if you would support your students by advertising our
conference. Such marketing could be achieved by:
1. Emailing your students with the information above and a copy of the
poster and links to our website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
2. Advertising the event on your student portals if applicable.
3. Attaching posters around your campuses where biomedical research
students would see them (a member from our committee would be
more than happy to print and attach to your campus if you are in the
immediate vicinity of Melbourne’s CBD).
4. Support students in taking opportunities, such as this, to immerse
themselves in an open and friendly research environment where they
can grow as scientists to express their ideas to develop into the leaders
of tomorrow.
I have attached the official conference poster, which has details of the event
including the date and location. I have also provided links to our website,
through which registration is attainable, as well as our facebook and twitter.
We are in support of interstate students and distribute a limited number of
travel awards to assist students with travel and accommodation; details of
these can be attained through contact with our committee:
