JOB Description TITLE: Locum Senior Respiratory Scientist REPORTING TO: Senior Respiratory Scientist. & Executive Management QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS: Candidates must: (i) Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from DIT Kevin Street or Equivalent Or (ii) (iii) Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from DIT Kevin Street or Equivalent Or Possess an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8). And Have a minimum of 3 years satisfactory relevant post qualification experience And Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role. A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service January 2012 ROLE SUMMARY: This is a Locum position to cover Maternity Leave KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: 1. Conduct full range of invasive and non invasive respiratory diagnostic tests including spirometry, lung volumes, gas transfer, inspiratory and expiratory pressure measurements, body plethysmography , 2. Set up and disconnect Full Polysomnography and to analyse these studies. 3. Perform Mannitol challenge testing 4. To comply with Health & Safety Policies and to ensure that all equipment is calibrated and maintained and entered into maintenance logbook as per Health and Safety Policy. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS This position is responsible for conducting Pulmonary Function Testing and Full Polysomnography, They must communicate effectively with the Senior Respiratory Scientist on any issues which may arise and also with nursing staff to ensure patient safety is maintained WORKING TOGETHER By working together employees are expected to display a positive, helpful and caring attitude in the way they conduct themselves encouraging the confidence of patients, colleagues and others.
