Foster Elementary School 1800 Trailwood Village Drive 281-641-1400 http://humbleisd.net/fe Bulldogs 2015-2016 Dear Parents: Believe it or not, the beginning of school is just around the corner. Whether you read that and smile, work in additional R & R time with your family, or continue to mark things off your list in preparation, please know that our teachers and staff are anxiously finalizing plans for an exciting school year. We look forward to providing each and every child with many memorable moments and experiences of learning, fun, caring, and success. Listed below is important information to help make the beginning of school smoother and easier for your family. You’ll notice some “new” teachers and a few teachers in “new” places! While the kids have been relaxing over summer vacation, our staff has been busy studying and preparing for another fun-filled year. Parents will start their ‘homework’ earlier this year with packet pick-up on Wednesday, August 19th from 1-6pm. Proof of residency is required for ALL students before a packet will be issued. You must bring a water, gas, or electric bill, dated no earlier than July 1st, 2015 if residing in a house, or a lease for apartment residents. Also, your Home Access Account must be updated online. All families should bring the completed packet to the school-wide orientation on Friday, August 21st from 4-7pm. Pre-K orientation will take place on Thursday, August 20th from 5:45-6:15pm in Foster’s cafeteria. Kindergarten orientation will also take place on Thursday, August 20th from 6:30-7:30pm in Foster’s cafeteria. These orientations are for parents only, and child care will not be provided. Pre-K and Kindergarten parents and students are encouraged to come back on Friday, August 21st anytime between 4-6:30pm to meet their teacher, tour the building, purchase t-shirts and place money in your child’s lunch account. Parents of students in 1st to 5th grade are invited to attend an all-school orientation on Friday, August 21st. While parents are at an orientation, children may play outside on the playground (unsupervised) or they may watch a movie in the cross hall between first and second grade (supervised). Students can meet their teachers in their classrooms anytime except during their grade level orientation. Foster PTA will also hold their first meeting on Friday evening at 6:30 PM. In addition to grade level orientations, you may also accomplish a bunch of “first day of school” items on August 21st . You can place money in your child’s lunch account, buy a NEW Foster t-shirt ($10), and sign up for PTA and for a variety of volunteer opportunities. Fifth grade parents will be able to purchase their 5th grade planners for $5.
