Agreement for Guaranteed Admission
for Students from the Denver School of Science and
Technology (Green Valley Ranch) to the University of
Colorado Denver
The University of Colorado Denver (UC Denver) seeks to enroll students who have the academic
preparation necessary to persist until graduation. When the records of applicants graduating from
the Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST) are evaluated for admission to UC
Denver, the strength of the academic course work (e.g., college preparatory courses such as
honors, IB or AP courses are highly desirable) and the grades received will be of the utmost
importance. Also evaluated will be the performance of the student on the ACT and/or SAT tests
as well as consideration for the appropriateness of the student’s chosen major in conjunction with
his/her academic record. The standards in this agreement are consistent with the requirements
established by the Colorado Department of Higher Education for students graduating after 2010
and outlines the expectation for offering guaranteed admission to the applicant by the University
of Colorado Denver.
An additional element that is factored into the admission decision is the academic reputation of
the secondary school that the student has attended. In establishing a guaranteed admission
agreement between the University of Colorado Denver and the Denver School of Science and
Technology, it is assumed that the academic rigor of DSST will be demanding and that the
performance of these students once they have matriculated at UC Denver will warrant a
continuation of the guaranteed admissions agreement. This guaranteed admission agreement is
being written with an effective date of Fall 2010 and shall continue until terminated. This
agreement may be terminated at any time and by either party provided adequate written notice is
provided to the other party 60 days prior to termination with due regard to any graduating
students.

admission to UC Denver; however, students will be considered for admission on an individual
basis. If a student is not qualified for admission to the Colleges of Engineering & Applied
Science or the Business School, the application will be evaluated for admission to the College of
Liberal Arts & Sciences. The individual review will include review of the applicant’s entire
academic and extra-curricular record including the applicant’s personal essay and whether the
applicant has participated in UC Denver’s summer pre-collegiate and bridge programs that
demonstrate determination to pursue an educational future at CU.
The Financial Aid office at UC Denver works with any eligible student to assist in searching for
all available financial aid opportunities. Additionally, representatives from the Denver
Scholarship Foundation will work with students to ensure that proper and timely procedures are
followed in the financial aid process.
