IMPORTANT: Workplace Health & Safety requirements for this show:
*One handler/rider only per horse allowed in ring (except lead-line events which require a rider
and handler).
* No unauthorised persons allowed inside ring boundary at any time. Strappers, competitors and
others in charge of exhibits must obey the orders of the Stewards or they will be removed from the grounds.
Personal message from the Ringmasters: any competitor or person who speaks inappropriately or rudely to
a Judge, Steward or other show official, or publicly displays inappropriate behaviour towards other
competitors will be warned once by the Ringmasters and further displays of rudeness or bad sportsmanship
will result in that person/s being removed from the show. No day is perfect, you can’t always win or maybe
the Judge saw something of which you were not aware: display good manners, win AND lose graciously, and
take your complaints back to your horse float where no one else can hear them.  Leanne O. & Sharyn S. 
HENDRA
Horses (which includes pony heights) do not need to be vaccinated against Hendra to compete at
the Gatton Show.
If horses are not vaccinated, it is expected that owners and handlers will take responsibility for preventative
maintenance of their horses’ health, including ensuring feed and water containers at home are not under trees where
fruit bats may feed or rest. It is expected that horse owners and handlers will learn what Hendra symptoms are and
monitor their horses’ health carefully and not bring horses out to competition when they show any sign of illness or
raised temperature. This advice applies to any communicable equine disease, illness or parasitic infection, including
strangles, the various Equine Herpes Virus strains, colds, lice, ticks, etc.
Horse owners and handlers need to accept that diseases of horses which require quarantine, including lock-down
situations, have occurred in the past and may occur again, and the Gatton Show Society as well as organisers, officials
and helpers are in no way liable or responsible for such a situation arising at the Gatton Show. Attendance at this
show indicates acceptance of this and also indicates that horse owners and handlers accept responsibility for the health
of the animals in their care.
