RED ROCKS COMMUNITY COLLEGE EKG INTERPRETATION SPRING 2016 COURSE INFORMATION BASIC EKG INTERPRETATION (HPR 190) This course is designed to assist healthcare providers in the identification of basic cardiac arrhythmias, especially those that are life threatening. Specifically the course will cover lead placement and obtaining a tracing, electrophysiology of the heart, waveforms on the EKG, and rhythm interpretation. It is the recommended course for healthcare providers who are seeing patients with cardiac monitoring in place in either the hospital or pre-hospital setting. This includes EMTs who work on an ambulance, in an ER, or as a telemetry technician in a hospital. It is a required prerequisite for Paramedic school and essential to anyone who will be learning Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) COURSE OFFERINGS: HPR 190 001 W 1:00 – 5:00 pm 1/20/2016 – 3/9/2016 HPR 190 002 T 8:00 am – 12:00 pm 3/15/2016 – 5/10/2016 Course costs are based upon 2 credits plus fees. Currently the cost is approximately $289.71 for Colorado residents. There is one required textbook, available in the Red Rocks Community college bookstore. REQUIRED TEXTBOOK: ECG Workout 6th Edition, Huff, 2012, Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins APPLICATION PROCESS: All of the EKG courses are open enrollment, no permissions are required.
