Calling all Visual Artists! Art Exhibitions at Montgomery's Inn Museum About Montgomery's Inn Celebrating its 40th anniversary as a museum, Montgomery's Inn has been a landmark in Etobicoke for over 180 years. Now surrounded by a rapidly expanding metropolis, the museum has been restored to its heyday of 1847 and extends the tradition of hospitality that the Montgomerys started in the 1830s. It continues to provide visual evidence of early 19th-century life in this region and to serve as a hub for community activities. Montgomery's Inn is one of 10 museums operated by the City of Toronto, Museums & Heritage Services. About the Application Envision your artwork displayed on the gallery walls at a busy multi use mid-19th century museum! Now in its second year, the Montgomery's Inn selection committee is currently accepting applications for shows for the 2016-2017 cycle. We are looking for proposals that reflect the goals and programs of Montgomery's Inn as both an active museum and gathering place. We are specifically looking for exhibits that provide Montgomery's Inn with opportunities to enhance the profile of the museum within Toronto and engage with visitors and communities through a range of arts and cultural programming. Specifically Montgomery's Inn is looking to collaborate with artists who are interested in doing programming related to their exhibits for our Weekend Tea Series. Do you have an idea about an artist talk, workshop or family workshop that can be connected to your exhibit? If your exhibit is selected by the jury you can discuss ideas and opportunities for public programming with Montgomery's Inn Program Officer. Spaces for public programming are limited and will be discussed on a case by case basis and are optional for the artist. If you don't have an idea or are not able to commit to public programming your application will still be considered. Applications will be accepted for 2D works until January 29, 2016 for exhibits occurring from June 2016 to April 2017. There are two rooms available for exhibits (the Community Room and the Briarly Room). Individual artists may submit for one room and groups can submit for one or both rooms. Please note that we cannot display sculpture, instillation or 3D works of art. Results will be mailed out in early March 2016. Rates are $226.00 (HST included) per month per room.
