Ambassador Position Description
The PAL (Peers, Ambassadors, Leaders) Program is a Faculty run, student led program that aims to
provide support to transitioning students within the Arts Faculty. At the same time providing its
Ambassador and Leaders an opportunity to create a sense of community within the Arts Faculty.
The Faculty is looking for self-motivated and dedicated students to become Ambassadors in 2015.
Ambassadors represent the Faculty of Arts at O-Week, Open Day and at High School visits.
They also take on a mentoring role to peers (transitioning and first year students), whilst gaining
leadership and team skills. By mentoring Peers, they are able to give other students advice and guidance
as to how to tackle the many problems which may arise at the commencement of a University degree.
Ambassadors also have the option of being involved of one of the four portfolios – social, academic,
development and visibility. The Ambassadors role is to help the Leaders to run their portfolio. All
portfolios are looking for students who will be committed to the program and prepared to offer ideas along
with implementing new and existing initiatives. Depending on your portfolio these will includes running of
social events, finding new speakers for monthly events, running study tips and exam sessions and
marketing the program.
Ambassadors are the essential connection between the program and Peers and make a commitment to
be involved as much as possible.
The following level of commitment is required from all Ambassadors:
Compulsory Dates
Please ensure that you can attend all of the following dates (unexpected events will be taken into
consideration, provided that notice is given, preferable, prior to the event).

Non-Compulsory Events
Several social and non-compulsory events are held throughout the year, however we encourage
attendance at all of these events were possible.
Time commitment
Time commitment will vary during the year; however it be, on average, around 1 hour per week.
Ambassadors who elect to be involved in a Portfolio are required to:

Attend portfolio meetings, as run by Leaders (at least monthly)
Show initiative and take on responsibility of designated tasks to help run initiatives within the
Portfolios
Contribute ideas, thoughts and attendance at and to Portfolio run programs
Attend Leaders and Portfolio Ambassador Meetings organised by the PAL Coordinators and Cofacilitators
This is approximately 1hr extra per week on top of normal Ambassador commitments

criteria must be met
Ambassadors who elect to join a portfolio have the added benefits of:

Active contribution to the way in which the program is run
Have an advantage over other Ambassadors when applying for a Leader's position
