S1. Specification of patients’ cohort with bacterial infections. Table includes information
about localization of wound, patients’ age and sex, associated diseases and infection severity.
Patients were divided into groups according to treatment duration (< 4 weeks; 4 - 7 weeks; ≥ 8
weeks and one dead patient).

S2. 108 identified microorganisms (MO) in patients’ wounds by MALDI-TOF MS using MALDI
Biotyper™ software comparing protein profiles (2-30 kDa) with BDAL database. In case of incorrect
identification (score < 2), the bacterial strains were confirmed by Sanger sequencing of 16S bacterial
gene. The virulence of Staphylococcus aureus infection was investigated by presence of mecA and
fnbA genes.
