Rationale for Student
Learning Objective
(Attach class roster to share students’ scores on Beginning-of-theYear Assignment/Performance Task/Assessment.)
 The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System
(LLI) is a small-group, supplementary intervention designed for
children who find reading and writing difficult.
 Students are assessed using The Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark
Assessment System to determine entry and exit points for the LLI
system.
 LLI is designed to bring children up to grade-level competency in
14 to 18 weeks on average.
 In order for students to meet the demands of increasingly complex
text, students must master foundational skills critical for reading
success.
This SLO is a sample. Targets need to be adjusted based on your students’ data. Student growth should be
achieved for all students.
