Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society (MARS) is seeking a part-time technician for the summer to assist in the intake, husbandry, and rehabilitation of local wildlife during our busy summer season. The technician should be able to respond to rescue inquiries from the public and help to coordinate in the rescue and transport of injured wildlife especially birds to be admitted to the center. Additionally, they must be able to work with our large number of volunteers who help provide husbandry on a daily basis. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have knowledge of local wildlife and will be comfortable handling songbirds, birds of prey, adult and baby mammals. Prior experience working with wildlife in order to assist with basic rehabilitation (handling, restraint, examinations, fluid administration, wound management, medical record-keeping), as well as experience in nursing orphaned wildlife is a must. IWRC Basic skills certification or AHT Diploma is preferred. Candidates must be able to bend, kneel, crawl, and lift 40 lbs, and not be afraid of cleaning and getting dirty! Qualified candidates must be capable of behaving courteously and professionally with staff, volunteers, and the public in often high-stress situations involving injured wildlife. Candidates must be able to work weekends as well as morning and/or evening shifts. Payment: This is a paid position, requiring approximately 30 hrs/week, mostly Wednesday - Sunday.
