Job Specification Research Intern JOB DESCRIPTION We are currently seeking an intern to help co-ordinate a variety of research projects regarding the treatment of eating disorders. The work will be varied and will contribute to the development of an industry first ‘research platform’ showcasing current and developing eating disorder treatments. Training will be provided for all aspects of the role. DURATION The Succeed Foundation Internship Scheme will run on a 2-3 month cycle, starting in September FORMAT Interns can choose to undertake: Full-time unpaid Internship programme Part-time unpaid Internship programme HOURS Full-time Internship programme a. 28 hours per week (4 days a week: 7 hours per day, 10am-5pm, which includes a 1hr lunch break). Part-time Internship programme a. 7 - 14 hours per week (1 - 2 days a week: 7 hours per day, 10am-5pm, which includes a 1hr lunch break). FLEXIBILITY The Succeed Foundation is well aware that Interns, whilst being involved with The Succeed Foundation, are also in full time education, seeking full-time employment, applying for graduate schools, or working/studying part-time. As such, we offer flexible work hours, as we are keen to help you further your professional and/or educational aspirations. We would kindly ask that you communicate your schedule in advance so that we are aware of your absence, and can anticipate changes in time-patterns. The Succeed Foundation offices are staffed Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00. CONDITIONS The Succeed Foundation Internship Programme will be based at the Succeed Foundation premises in South Kensington, London. Each Intern will have its own computer and access to the Internet. When appropriate, interns may be asked to work from home. Interns will have access to Kitchenette facilities (complimentary coffee/tea and any other items that are provided by the office for Succeed staff). TRANSPORT & LUNCH DAILY STIPEND The Succeed Foundation Internship Programme is unpaid. However, The Succeed Foundation will offer £10/day travel and lunch expenses. CONTRACT Before you begin the Internship Programme you will be asked to sign two documents: 1. Internship – Work Agreement, stipulating rights and responsibilities 2. Confidentiality Agreement REFERENCES At the end of each Internship cycle, each Intern will receive a Letter of Reference. THE ROLE Tasks including: Detailed online research Contacting eating disorder researchers and experts Taking part in a work group to develop templates and methodologies Helping develop an industry first ‘Research platform’ Evaluating, filtering and summarising research found PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES Student or Graduate of research based degree, e.g. Psychology Interest in eating disorders and body image research Excellent verbal and written communications skills High levels of research, evaluation and analytical skills Good Microsoft Office skills Ability to work well independently and in a small team Flexible approach with a Give-it-a-go attitude Interest in Succeed’s aims & goals to help those with Eating Disorders If you are interesting in applying, please send a CV and covering letter explaining why you are right for this role to: info@succeed-foundation.org
