Students are expected to participate every day, failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions. Choir is a performance class, and you will receive a grade in this class. NO CELL PHONES: Cell phones are strictly prohibited during rehearsals and performances. ATTENDANCE AT ALL REHERSALS IS REQUIRED. Chronic absenteeism and tardiness WILL result in the lowering of your grade. Required performances Required performances include, but are not limited to: A. Fall Concert (TBD) B. Holiday Concert (TBD) C. Spring Concert (TBD) Performance Information and Dress 1. Students will perform in white tops and black dress pants (no denim) with black, closed toe shoes (NO flip-flops or sandals please) and black socks for the guys. o Female singers can choose to wear black dress pants (no denim) or a skirt. Please make sure the skirt is knee-length or longer and the white top is modest (same rules as school). o Students who are unable to fulfill concert dress standards are asked to speak with Mama Woods ASAP so that accommodations may be made far in advance of the performance date. Students who do not meet concert dress standards at the performance will not be allowed to perform. This will result in a 0 in the grade book for that performance. 2. Concert call for all students will be ONE HOUR prior to each performance. o o Please treat each performance professionally. Be serious and concentrate. Misbehavior on stage is distracting to every person at the performance and is not considered acceptable behavior. Social Responsibility: An understanding of the impact of an individual’s actions or lack thereof on others. Develop an understanding of an individual’s moral and ethical responsibility to other members of the ensemble, to the director, to the composer of the music being performed, to the audience, and to the choral performance art. 3. Concert Participation is MANDATORY. Choir is a performance-based class. If you are not present for performances you are not fulfilling a very essential element of the class. 4. ANY ABSENCE will result in the concert grade of 0. If the absence is excused (which must be verified with a note from parent/guardian), you will have two weeks or until the end of the quarter (whichever comes first) to complete the following make up assignment. o Students assume the responsibility for making up all missed work. In the event of any excused absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the director and discuss material missed or obtain additional help. Discipline Plan All music students are expected to adhere to the Band room Rules and regulations. Any student who deprives another student of the right to learn will be disciplined appropriately.
