No chewing gum, snacks, food, pop, or juice inside the class room.
Students are expected to participate every day, failure to do so will result in disciplinary actions.
Choir is a performance class, and you will receive a grade in this class.
NO CELL PHONES: Cell phones are strictly prohibited during rehearsals and performances.
ATTENDANCE AT ALL REHERSALS IS REQUIRED.
Chronic absenteeism and tardiness WILL result in the lowering of your grade.
Required performances
Required performances include, but are not limited to:
A. Fall Concert (TBD)
B. Holiday Concert (TBD)
C. Spring Concert (TBD)
Performance Information and Dress
1.
Students will perform in white tops and black dress pants (no denim) with black, closed toe shoes
(NO flip-flops or sandals please) and black socks for the guys.
o Female singers can choose to wear black dress pants (no denim) or a skirt. Please make
sure the skirt is knee-length or longer and the white top is modest (same rules as
school).
o Students who are unable to fulfill concert dress standards are asked to speak with Mama
Woods ASAP so that accommodations may be made far in advance of the performance
date. Students who do not meet concert dress standards at the performance will not be
allowed to perform. This will result in a 0 in the grade book for that performance.
2. Concert call for all students will be ONE HOUR prior to each performance.
o
o
Please treat each performance professionally. Be serious and
concentrate. Misbehavior on stage is distracting to every person at the performance
and is not considered acceptable behavior.
Social Responsibility: An understanding of the impact of an individual’s actions or
lack thereof on others. Develop an understanding of an individual’s moral and
ethical responsibility to other members of the ensemble, to the director, to the
composer of the music being performed, to the audience, and to the choral
performance art.
3.
Concert Participation is MANDATORY. Choir is a performance-based class. If you are not
present for performances you are not fulfilling a very essential element of the class.
4.
ANY ABSENCE will result in the concert grade of 0. If the absence is excused (which must be
verified with a note from parent/guardian), you will have two weeks or until the end of the quarter
(whichever comes first) to complete the following make up assignment.
o Students assume the responsibility for making up all missed work. In the event of any
excused absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the director and discuss
material missed or obtain additional help.
Discipline Plan
All music students are expected to adhere to the Band room Rules and regulations.
Any student who deprives another student of the right to learn will be disciplined
appropriately.
