Position Description The New York Program Manager will manage all aspects of the program, including outreach, job seeker services (orientation & training), employment services (coaching & job placement), development of strategic partnerships, and volunteer engagement. The Program Manager will lead a dynamic team of committed professionals to achieve strong outcomes for skilled immigrants and our community of partners and funders. Reporting to the New York Managing Director, the Program Manager supervises the work of four direct reports and five indirect reports. This position is performance-based, and success is measured by the program team’s ability to meet defined intake, enrollment, training completion, employer network readiness, job placement and job retention goals. This position is based in Upwardly Global’s New York Office located in Midtown Manhattan. Responsibilities: Team Management (30% of work hours) Provide direct and indirect supervision to a team of nine staff with responsibility for overseeing hiring, onboarding, training and managing overall performance for the team. Provide day to day coaching to direct reports, hold regular supervision meetings, and conduct formal performance reviews for the team. Identify professional development opportunities for direct and indirect reports. Conduct annual performance and compensation reviews Help foster a strengths based, collaborative leadership culture. Program Management (40% of work hours) Review and set annual program metrics and manage the team towards meeting and exceeding goals with a particular emphasis on professional level job placements and starting salaries. Use outcome data to drive programmatic decisions and identify ways to course correct if program areas are under-performing. Oversee and monitor outreach and communication efforts to ensure job seeker pipeline is sufficient to meet local hiring needs. Expand program reach into new NYC neighborhoods and potential regional growth areas as needed. Monitor screening of job seekers to ensure a steady stream of qualified participants and ensure that job seekers who are not qualified are referred to appropriate services. Manage the program budget and look for opportunities for savings and efficiency. Collaborate closely with the Employment Services Manager to increase placement outcomes and implement strategies to improve alumni retention and Employer Network readiness rates for NY job seekers. Collaborate with peer managers of the San Francisco, Midwest and Remote programs to align process, workflow and to institute best practices Engage with external evaluators and consultants as needed. Business Development/Fundraising Responsibilities (30% of work hours) Develop specific strategies to engage with employers on talent sourcing, volunteer partnerships and other opportunities for mutually beneficial relationships in order to increase placement outcomes and as appropriate, drive revenue. Supervise staff working on strategic partnerships. Draft corporate partnership proposals as needed. Work in collaboration with the national employer partnerships team to implement local strategies. Strategize with and support the NY development team in grant writing, program development and grant reporting. Manage a select set of private and public funder relationships. In partnership with the Development Manager, lead data collection and reporting for New Yorkbased funders. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred. 3 to 7 years of work experience in team and program management. Strong quantitative and data analysis skills required. Knowledge of database systems, such as Salesforce, preferred. Proven track record of leading team in meeting and exceeding program goals. Experience working with development staff and/or high-profile funders in compiling and analyzing program data. Experience in business development and securing program/employer partners. Prior success in managing a high performance team Knowledge of workforce training, human resources, or career development programs preferred. Significant experience working cross-culturally in a diverse environment. Sensitivity to ethnic and cultural diversity. Must have commitment to work from a strengths based perspective. Experience working with cross-functional teams strongly preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong presentation skills. Sound judgment and ability to develop a deep knowledge of the immigrant integration field. Detail orientation and strong project management skills with an ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week with occasional need to attend evening meetings and events. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance stipend and 15 vacation days accrued in the first year.
