Through the sparkling trees, the wintry wind blew angrily depositing small mounds of soft shimmering snow upon the wintry, white carpet. The shining lakes stood frozen like giant mirrors framed in velvet white. Somewhere underground a fox was curled and its tracks were just visible as the snowflakes drifted lethargically down covering them over. A lonely man trudged through the dense snow of the wintry wonderland, carrying a large package in his arms. 2. “Where has he gone?” a voice called from somewhere across the wintry wonderland. “Off on his sledge, I think,” a small boy, with keen, dark eyes replied. “Has he been gone long?” the concerned retort came and raised a cough from the small boy. “Dunno,” he muttered and squirmed nervously, “I wasn’t looking and I don’t have a watch.” 3. Bright, sparkling icicles hung from the window frames, like crystal chandeliers. The fire crackled in a friendly manner and the Christmas tree stood awaiting adornment. The children entered with a box of decorations – faces aglow with excitement. Outside the wintry wonderland surrounded them. 4. Exhausted the man slumped to the floor, pulling his thick coat about him. The beauty of the wintry wonderland and lost its appeal somehow. He was lost, cold and desperate and who would ever find him out here. 5. John lived in a house in the middle of nowhere. In summer the meadows were abloom with fragrant wild fowers, but winter was here now with its icy fingers. It was as if someone had been icing a cake; everywhere was gleaming, white. The wintry wonderland stretched out as far as the eye could see. 6. Slowly, Kiera shuffled through the snow making a path as she did so. It was so beautiful, like a wintry wonderland – yet so deadly. The icy winds bit at her tired limbs, like a dog gnawing at a bone and the numbness in her fingers worried her. It was frostbite and soon it would be too late. 7. Inside warm and cosy, the Cavendish family looked out across the wintry wonderland outside. Like a giant white duvet, the snow covered the land. Glistening pavements, caught the light, like precious jewels and rivers and lakes were polished and smooth. Twinkling icicles like diamond earrings adorned the window sills and shimmering windscreens adorned the neighbourhood cars. 8. The beautiful scene took Heather’s breath away; she had never seen a winter’s day as beautiful as this. It was a wintry wonderland, all sparkling and shimmering in the mellow wintry rays of sunshine. Snow drifted peacefully downwards, lying softly upon the thick, carpet of twinkling snow. 9. He wanted to laugh as he saw the cabin in front of him. The landscape so beautiful and white, stretched out in front of him like a scene from a picture book. The glossy snow looked good enough to eat, yet it was cold and unforgiving. This cabin, with its warm glow offered comfort from the savage icy winds. 10. Sparkling lights hung from all the neighbourhood trees; snow covered the grown like a white satin cloak and icy paths spiralled into the distance like silver serpents slithering across the land. It was simply beautiful – a wintry wonderland.
