FEILD EXPERIENCES 02/2014-06/2014 Seasonal Avian Ecologist Smithsonian Institute Migratory Bird Center -Monitored the Island Scrub Jay population on the Santa Cruz Island, CA by mapping their territories and conducting nest searches and observation. -Assisted Colorado State University PhD student with capturing Song Sparrows with mistnets for the study of polymorphism among Song Sparrows across the Channel Islands, CA. 09/2013-09/2013 Greater Sage Grouse Trapping Technician USGS Western Ecological Research Center Dixon Field Station -Captured Greater Sage Grouse in sage brush habitat throughout Nevada using spotlights and nets. -Put on VHS collars and PTT backpacks on the sage grouse. Took morphometric measurements, feather, fecal and blood samples from sage grouse 04/2013-08/2013 Avian Research Assistant USGS Western Ecological Research Center Dixon Field Station -Participated in research project examining effects of mercury on songbird populations by mist-netting and banding birds, taking blood and feather samples, and monitoring nest boxes. 08/2012-12/2012 Avian Field Volunteer Ordway Lab of Ecosystem Conservation, Department of Biology, University of Florida -Assisted graduate student with the study of avian community within white sand forests in the Allpahuayo-Mishana National Reserve in the Peruvian Amazon. Duties include mist-netting, banding, sexing birds by plumage, and ageing birds by molt limits and skull ossification.
