Math Placement Exam If your ACT score does not meet a prerequisite, you will need to take a Math Placement Exam. take the Math Placement Exam in three ways: You can 1. Check at your local college to see whether one of these tests is offered. Only the COMPASS or AccuPlacer exam will be acceptable to UW's Math Department. If you choose this option, the Placement Exam score report will have to be sent to UW's Math Department. Your course eligibility will be determined by your test score(s) as compared to the established cut-offs of UW's Math Department. The Compass exam is currently being offered by appointment in the Math Lab. Please contact David Anton (Ross Hall 30, 766-6577, danton@uwyo.edu) to schedule an appointment. The ACT Compass requires approximately 20-60 minutes to complete, although a student is allowed to take longer. Most calculators are allowed, with the exception of the TI-89, TI-92 and TIVoyager. There is a $15.00 exam fee, payable in cash or check, due at the exam. You will also need to bring a photo ID. 3. You can also take the exam online. To access the exam: 1. Login to WyoWeb through the link on the University of Wyoming homepage: http://www.uwyo.edu/. 2. The Math Placement Exam is listed under your Destination You-W Checklist items (screenshot is on the back of this page) There is a $15 fee, which is paid through CASHnet in WyoWeb (you’ll be led there during the process above). You will usually receive results within two business days of taking the exam, which will be sent to your preferred email address on record (frequently this is your UWyo account). Preparing for the Math Placement Exam Do not take the MPE unprepared.
