Re: Longhill Summer School 2014 – Final arrangements
Thank you for completing the forms for the Longhill Summer School I am now pleased to be
able to confirm the final arrangements for the course for your son/ daughter.
Week 1 - 18 – 22 August – Attend the school based week at Longhill High School
Week 2 - 26 – 29 August – Attend the PGL residential in Hailsham
Week 1:

Travel:

During the first week, the ‘Lemon Bus’ will be available for those travelling from
Whitehawk / Woodingdean. Pick up times as follows:
8:30am - Bus will pick up at Whitehawk Garage
8: 32am - Bus will pick up at St Cuthmans Church
8: 40am - Bus will pick up at Holy Cross Church bus stop in Woodingdean (just past
Tesco garage).
On the return journey the bus will leave Longhill at 3.10pm each day and will stop at
these bus stops in reverse order.
Those making their own travel arrangments, please plan and arrange for «Legal_Forename» to
travel to and from Longhill School safely.
Snacks and Lunch:
Snacks and lunch will be provided on all days. At break time students will be given a drink and
a hot snack, followed by a proper meal at lunch. They will have access to a drink throughout
the day.
Students do not need to bring money to school. Any money brought to school is at students’
own risk.
Week 2:

Travel:
Please note the later arrival time for the Tuesday; please do not bring your child to school
before 2.00pm. Please ensure they have adequate support for bringing their luggage to
school. If you are travelling in by bus, please support «Legal_Forename» in travelling to school.
Meals -Students will be provided with the following meals during this second week:

On Tuesday they will be provided with Dinner.


On Wednesday and Thursday students will be provided with breakfast, lunch and
dinner.
On Friday they will be provided with breakfast.
Please ensure that children have eaten before arriving at the school Tuesday lunchtime.
Collecting your child on the Friday
Please be at the school to meet your child on the Friday at 2.15pm. Students may be tired and
will obviously have a number of bags with them and may need adult help to carry their
belongings.
Money:
There is a souvenir and food/refreshment shop at the PGL Centre and therefore students may
wish to bring some money. We would suggest that students bring no more than £10 for the
four days.
Behaviour:
I am sure all students will thrive in the outdoor environment and we will have an excellent
week. However, if there are incidents where we feel it is no longer feasible for your son to stay
at the PGL Centre we will be contacting you to make arrangements for you to collect them. It
is therefore very important that students act responsibly and make the most of their time
