Call for Proposals
Clean Energy Futures
Lecture / Workshop Series
The University of Vermont’s Clean Energy Fund is seeking proposals for its Clean Energy
Futures Lecture/Workshop Series. Funding is available for departments, students, and/or faculty
interested in organizing lectures, workshops, or other similar events on topics related to clean
energy. Of particular interest to the fund are proposals that seek to bring external speakers and
perspectives to the UVM campus. Proposals for events involving UVM faculty are welcome, as
well.
Email the attached application in PDF format to cef@uvm.edu.
Deadline is December 15th 2014.
Guidelines for Lecture/Workshop Series
Any lecture or lecture series must have a guaranteed student audience and be open to all
students. The preference is for the CEF to partner with other departments and/or existing
lecture series to offer these events, to serve as a source of supplemental funding.
Lecture proposals must define anticipated positive impacts on UVM efforts to meet climate
change and clean energy goals. We would like applicants to refer to the following
documents as context for their proposal:
 UVM’s Climate Action Plan:
www.uvm.edu/sustain/sustainability-uvm/climate-action-plan

UVM’s Comprehensive Campus Renewable Energy Feasibility Study:
www.uvm.edu/sustain/cef/cef-projects/comprehensive-campus-renewableenergy-feasibility-study
Possible events include:
Talks and lectures, symposia, forums, hands-on and conceptual workshops.
Possible topics include:
Biomass (woody and non-woody); Biofuels (algae-based and non-algae based); Smart Grids and
Decentralized Production; Solar & Wind Energy; Coupled Agricultural-Energy Production;
Market, Demand-side, and Energy Efficiency Innovations; Developing Technologies (i.e.
piezoelectrics, tidal energy); Energy Policy and History; Energy and Transportation; Energy and
Food; Energy and Society
Costs eligible for coverage:
Speaker honoraria and travel expenses; University AV and facilities services; Food and catering;
Workshop supplies; Compensation for organizer(s)
CEF Funds will cover up to 50% of the event costs. The remaining funds must come from other
sources (i.e. academic departments, university offices, external sources). In some cases exceptions
may be made at the discretion of the CEF committee.
