PRESS RELEASE For immediate release June 8, 2015 Media Contact Jane Gendron (435) 640-3315 jgendron@jgendron.com Park City Institute Presents Smash Mouth ∙ Toad the Wet Sprocket ∙ Tonic June 30, 2015 St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series at Deer Valley Resort PARK CITY, UT – The hits are instantly recognizable: Smash Mouth’s “All-Star,” Toad the Wet Sprocket’s “Walk on the Ocean” and Tonic’s “If You Could Only See.” This triple billing rocks the St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights concert series on June 30. Touring together for June and July, these powerhouse, lyrical, witty musicians deliver an electrifying summer season opener at Deer Valley Resort’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater. Tickets and information available at Park City Institute’s box office, 435-655-3114, or online at www.BigStarsBrightNightsConcerts.org Smash Mouth, fronted by Steve Harwell, has been churning out hits for two decades. Creating fresh tunes out of what one New York Times reviewer called “an ingenious, time-hopping patchwork,” the band’s debut album (“Fush Yu Mang”), which featured the hit “Walkin’ on the Sun,” started the multi-platinum tidal wave in the late ’90s. The follow-up “Astrolounge” delivered more chart toppers, including “All-Star,” “Then the Morning Comes” and “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby.” Upbeat, often funny, party tunes (2012’s “Magic” and Pacific Coast Party”) and contributions to film soundtracks (such as “Shrek”) are all a part of Smash Mouth’s California-surf-garage-tinged American rock story. The folk-pop lyricism of Toad the Wet Sprocket (named for an obscure Monty Python reference and fronted by Glen Phillips) is best known for spawning runaway hits “Walk on the Ocean,” “All I Want,” “Something’s Always Wrong” and “Fall Down.” The California band, comprised of four friends who met in high school (Philips, Dean Dinning, Todd Nichols and Randy Guss) was formed in 1986. Since then, they’ve released six albums, including newer hits, such as “California Wasted” and “The Moment.” Even though its long history has included moments of hiatus, the reunited Toad continues to tap into that original chemistry. As a Santa Barbara Independent reviewer writes, “Toad’s execution of their considerable musical catalog [is] both vibrant and faultless.” Tonic delivers guitar-driven rock reflected in Billboard toppers “If You Could Only See” and “Take Me As I Am.” The band, comprised of Emerson Hart, Jeff Russo and Dan Lavery, has produced six Top 10 singles, sold more than 4 million records, received multiple Grammy nominations, platinum albums and the No.1 most played rock song of 1998. Known for its impressive live shows, Tonic took a hiatus to explore solo endeavors before returning to the road – and studio. The band’s fifth studio album is slated for release this fall. “These bands set the perfect tone for summer,” says PCI executive director Teri Orr. “From melodic, introspective songwriting to dance-able party tunes, this is a spectacular blend of decades-honed musicianship from three top-notch bands that continue to create together and, most of all, entertain.” CONCERT DETAILS All St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights concerts take place at Deer Valley Resort’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.
