Park City Performing Arts Foundation Presents
St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights
Outdoor Concert Series
The All-American Rejects
August 12, 2012
PARK CITY, UT – Outrageous and armed with youthful charisma as well as legit musical chops,
The All-American Rejects rock Deer Valley Resort’s Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater with their
emo-pop-punk sounds on Sunday, August 12. In keeping with the fresh-faced – yet musically
maturing – theme of the evening, recently reunited trio EVE 6 heats up the stage as the concert’s
raucous opening act. Show starts at 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Fronted by bassist/singer/lyricist Tyson Ritter, The All-American Rejects first topped the charts with
their 2002 hit single “Swing, Swing.” With the bands’ two ensuing albums, the hits continued to
mount. “Dirty Little Secret,” “Move Along” and “Gives You Hell” (which sat at No. 1 on the charts
for 40 weeks) all worked their way into the mainstream and landed the band in platinum-artist status.
Over the past decade of touring and recording, Ritter, band co-founder Nick Wheeler, guitarist Mike
Kennerty and drummer Chris Gaylor have honed their own brand of rhythmic, high-energy and
melodic sound.
With a fourth album (“Kids in the Street”) released just a few months ago, this quartet is walking
what Rolling Stone calls “a different side of the pop’n’roll street.” Or, as Reuters puts it, “The AllAmerican Rejects are finally growing up and embracing their softer side.”
The band’s talent has never floundered – even as fellow alt rock bands fell by the wayside. And, The
All-American Rejects of yore – which recorded its first album while still in high school – hasn’t lost
any of its brash, fun, heart-throb-filled essence. Calling the band “a quartet of mop-topped, raucous
[then] teen dreams,” Variety likens Ritter’s vocal range to the Cure’s Robert Smith. “And depending
on the point of view, the band is a guilty pleasure or a group of pure pop pundits.”
Southern California pop-rock stars Eve 6, flew to the top of the charts in the late 1990s with hits
ranging from “Inside Out” and “Promise” to “Leech” and the ubiquitous “Here’s To The Night.” The
trio – comprised of Max Collins (vocals and bass), Jon Siebels (guitar) and Tony Fagenson (drums) –
signed its first record deal as teenagers, navigated the ups and downs of sizzling out-the-gate success,
broke up in 2004 and reunited in 2011. The re-energized band returns to the stage with pop-punk
poise and armed with fresh tunes off their newest album, “Speak In Code” (released in April).
So, “Here’s To The Night” – August 12 – that’s definitely going to “Swing, Swing”… and get
audiences on their feet. A double billing of rock-pop-punk anthems and attitude, The All-American
Rejects and Eve 6 perform for one night only.
