This workshop illustrates how to embed Student Services connections into an assignment as a way to
support student success.

Mental Health Resources- Kognito. Presenters: Marla McBride MSN, FNP-BC, Director Student
Health Services and Ashleigh Louis, PhD, LMFT, Mental Health Counselor
Kognito is an online avatar based learning tool for interacting with students and staff who have mental
health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, etc. This workshop will provide a hands-on
introduction to the self-paced modules that can empower faculty and staff to deal more effectively
with individuals who are dealing with mental health issues.

MyGateway course studio, Webstar, Turnitin.com plagiarism detection software, and Smartthinking Online
Tutoring Services are essential tools for any classroom instructor. Come get an introduction on how
you can maximize their use in your classroom.

Explore how to implement community building strategies in your classroom to enhance student
learning, campus engagement, retention, and student satisfaction.

LC Coordinator, Emily Keery, ESC Center Coordinator, and Peggy Austin, Librarian
Empower your students to maximize their learning by utilizing the resources on campus. Introduction
to the services provided in the Library and Learning Resource Center: Math Learning Center, English
Success Center, Tutoring Center, Language Lab, library orientations, etc.

This workshop will show instructors how to use some of the latest technology and software
applications in their classroom while keeping the atmosphere comfortable for those who may
prefer traditional classroom space.

Learn how to recognize, understand, and work with students with disabilities.

In this workshop we will view excerpts from film presentations that illustrate strategies for actively engaging
students in the learning process and discuss their application to your classroom. Films feature Cypress College
faculty from a variety of disciplines.

Safety issues will present themselves to you over the course of your years teaching. The best way to
deal with them is by being prepared. This workshop will address common safety issues that can be
found on college campuses and how best to address them.

Get support for your professional development! This hands-on workshop introduces you to the Professional
Development funding application to give you a greater understanding of the funding criteria, opportunities, and
processes. Learn how to effectively apply for Professional Develop funds.

This workshop offers ideas on how to scaffold activities that work to prepare students for difficult assignments
(exam prep, learning a new type of essay or a new concept, in-class writing assignment) as well as warm up and
cool down classroom activities.
