Family History for Indigenous Territorians - Official Government Records
The Northern Territory Archives Services holds a range of official government records to use for Indigenous
people tracing their family history.
Northern Territory Department of Justice - Births, Deaths and Marriages
holds a card index to Indigenous births. Whilst this index is not open to public access, it is made available
to persons, who are part of the "Stolen Generation". There is a fee for this service.
National Archives of Australia - Northern Territory Office
has a copy of The
Permission to Marry file which is very useful for family history as in earlier times Indigenous people had
to have permission to marry.
