PRESS RELEASE

DRAGON BREATHES FIRE INTO BUSINESS NORTH WEST
An influential businessman who’s perhaps best known as one of the former investors on
BBC TV’s Dragon’s Den is to join the impressive list of speakers at Business North
West, the region’s premier business-to-business exhibition.
Australian-born Richard Farleigh, who made his fortune in the banking and investment
sectors, is ranked as the 876th on the Sunday Times Rich List 2006 with an estimated
net worth of £66million.
In 2006, Richard was approached to appear Dragon’s Den where he demonstrated his
keen eye for investment opportunities and his constructive nature in supporting those
who came before him with their inventions and products.
One of the most successful businesses to emerge from the Den was Levi Roots’
Reggae Reggae Sauce, which was backed by Richard and his fellow dragon Peter
Jones. Richard sold his stake in the business 12 months later for more than 10-times
his original investment.
Richard will be joined by a number of other high profile speakers in the Innovation
Lounge at the exhibition, taking place at Manchester Central on 4 th and 5th May 2011,
which is expected to attract more than 5,500 visitors.
The Apprentice contestant, Alex Epstein, who is a brand and communications
consultant from North Manchester, will address visitors, share ideas, case studies and
practical tips on brand storytelling and how companies can use social media to build a
strong brand to stand out from the competition.
Other speakers include chartered marketer, Jennie Miller, senior category insight
manager at Kellogg’s, who will address visitors at the region’s premier business-tobusiness exhibition, on the subject of how customer insight has helped the Manchesterbased firm with brand extension and product development.
Matt Benyon, managing director of Business North West organisers, easyFairs UK,
added: “Our list of speakers is a ‘who’s who’ of business high-flyers, not only in the
North West, but from across the international spectrum.
“We are delighted that Richard Farleigh is so enthusiastic about coming on-board and
sharing his experience, insight and knowledge with visitors.”
Entry is free for visitors to the exhibition. To book a stand or register to attend, visit
