Build the Village August 28, 2014 Friends and Supporters, It’s been a few months since my last update and a lot has transpired. So, to bring everyone up to speed, let me break down by division the work and the successes. In the Children’s Ministry, we continue to be blessed with wonderful kids here at Noel Children’s Center. Currently, we have 26 children, two over our capacity. We also praise the Lord that 15 children have been adopted from our home! These children keep the staff and visitors hopping, and surely keep the smiles comingļ! These two infants (pictured right) were abandoned and brought to us by the courts. We were so excited – we welcome all of our new children into our home, as is our calling and mandate (James 1:27). We feel so very blessed to provide for and to love them. We praise God for our staff who are dedicated to this ministry, and as well for our supporters and volunteers who make this happen. And as these little ones continue to arrive, as our numbers increase, we are really stretched to provide for their needs. We have a serious need for one time gifts to purchase new beds, blankets, supplies for general house maintenance and needs to finish a food closet. God is good. The children are loved, educated and sustained because of your gifts and support. The ministry of Noel Academy is growing, nearly 200 children are educated in a mission school funded for the education and discipleship of the village’s children. The academic standings of the school are exceptional and we are so very blessed to be a part of these children’s lives. A few months back we sent a request to many of our supporters, and you responded. The request was to help finish the 4th school building. Well, today the structure is up, the roof is on and one of the five classrooms is finished. Our 7th grade students are now enjoying the new space. The new classrooms will help to provide additional space for the growing school. As mentioned, there are four additional classrooms and a library that needs to be finished. The cost per room is $4000 per room. Four classrooms remain unfinished, but we need 3 additional classrooms finished by January 1, 2015. We’ll use two of the classrooms for our boarders and one of the classrooms for the 8th grade. Thank you for your help with this roof. Now we need to get the classrooms finished! The outreach ministry in the local schools and colleges is a serious commitment for us. This year we sponsored and escorted a number of volunteer teams who helped to reach hundreds with the gospel of our Lord. This involved VBS in the schools, one-on-one evangelism in the colleges and arranging discipleship for new believers. Thankful for so many who respond to the call of evangelism - we pray for this continued servant mindset and obedience to follow the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20). Hundreds hear the gospel; many have had the opportunity to respond. Outreach and church planting efforts. Over the past couple of years, we have had the privilege to work with a new church plant. The church is in the refugee camp in North Kenya, the camp is named Kakuma. We have provided discipleship, helped in the construction of their new church, disciple onsite, baptism of new believers, and have participated in hut to hut evangelization among the camp residents. This work continues and we need additional support in order to continue our travel and to provide for accommodations. The travel to Kakuma is very difficult, the area is very hot!! But the need for the gospel and discipleship is huge. This camp now has 150,000 refugees and so many have never heard of our Lord, Jesus……. A young muslim family heard about the person of Jesus and His gift of life for the first time at the above baptism. Our work in the prison system is still growing, limited only because of financial resources. Our BTV pastors are ministering in many of the Kenya prisons weekly, providing discipleship to new believers. We continue to press on, working to get into more prisons, sharing the message of the gospel, sending Bibles, and organizing discipleship programs. The work is great, the opportunity is wide open, but our sponsorship is limited. Additionally, we continue to invite mission teams from the States to help us in our efforts to reach the under-reached men and women of the prison system. Hundreds upon hundreds of inmates are responding to the gospel. Lives are being changed, and there is so much more to do! Investigating new opportunities for Christ. Almost everyday, we’re overwhelmed with the poverty and the incredible need of the children in Kenya. The poverty is wide spread and the need for the church has never been so important. In the pictures below, I was invited to see how these children were living (about an hour away from our site), and was asked how we can help. The pictures speak for themselves. The situation is pitiful. But my hands are tied. Our resources are very limited, but we want to help. I visited these children, living in a metal shelter, studying on a dark, wet, filthy space and sleeping in places where most of us would not want our pets sleep. These are small children physically and or sexually abused who need our help! And they need our help SOON. We would like to ask that our friends, current supporters and those interested help us… For our on-going high school, Northside Christian Academy, project in Mosoriot - we need additional funding so we can open the high school this January 2015. And, we also need to build a new Children’s Center on the same campus to take in the abandoned and abused children in this region. But, we need a substantial donor or a group of donors to help make this possible. We need your help to financially support, fund and pray for these programs within the prisons, in the refugee camp and to assist in our discipling efforts in the schools and colleges. We need your help to offset the living expenses of the children of Noel Children’s Center. Many of you have supported and have been a tremendous help. We would like for you to prayerfully continue your support. Thank you for your consideration, mostly for your love for the Lord’s work and for your commitment to the great commission. In Summary: 1. We need to raise $170K, to build the new classroom building for the high school 2. We need 1,000 new partners, at $25.00 per month, who can help us reach the budget needed to help us reach and disciple more men and women in the prisons and schools. 3. We need to raise up sponsorship for a new orphanage to be built in Mosoriot, Kenya. We need to get these children out of the mud and into a warm, clean and loving home. This will cost $140K.
