Monday, August 10, 2015 Dear Parent or Guardian, Thank you for sending your child to Calvary Adventure Camp this week! This is our last week of camp for 2015 and we are glad your child can be here with us! Our theme for the week is “It’s a Mystery!” and we will highlight the theme with various activities throughout the week. Below are some of the activities that campers will be participating in this week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: Campers in grade 2 and older will enjoy either the “Amazing Bugs” or “Artistic Adventure!” elective in the morning. Wednesday – This week, Wednesday is our trip day, and we will be traveling by bus to Bissell’s Hideaway. We will be playing games, enjoying their large playground, swimming, paddle boats and splash pad. Campers up to and including Grade 1 will be restricted to playing on the splash pad. Please remember to send a lunch, plenty of drinks, bathing suit, towel, and a hat to camp with your child. Thursday – Team Colours Day! Children will be assigned to a colour team on Monday (Red, Yellow or Green), and they are encouraged to wear the colour of their team on Thursday. If you aren’t sure what colour team your child is on, please ask their counsellor. Campers at Calvary Adventure Camp are encouraged to learn some verses from the Bible each week. They will earn points for each verse they memorize, which they may use to buy something from the Prize Room on Friday. There is no pressure put on the campers to learn the verses, but we want you to be aware of the award system that we have in place. The verses may be found on the back of this page. Tuck Shop will be available most days at camp. If you would like your child to purchase goodies at Tuck, we ask that you provide us with your child’s tuck money for the entire week, and we will keep a running tab of what your child spends throughout the week. You may put a daily limit on how much your child spends. Any money that your child has not spent will be returned at the end of the week. Tuck shop items are no more than a dollar. Please remember to send a lunch, snacks, and plenty of liquids, to camp each day. Campers should come to camp with sunscreen on and have a hat to wear. We ask that campers wear or bring footwear that is suitable for running. On very hot days, we will make greater use of the air- conditioned areas in our facilities. If you have any questions about camp, please be sure to ask. We want your child’s time at Calvary Adventure Camp to be an excellent experience for both you and your child. Finally, we invite you join us for our annual free camp BBQ on Wednesday, August 12 between 5:30 and 7:00 PM. All campers from the entire summer along with their families, are invited to come! Please let us know by phone or by signing up at the registration table, how many from your family will be coming. If you have any questions, concerns, (or compliments!) about camp, I would be happy to speak with you! We hope you all have a terrific week! Bible Memory Verses for August 10-14 Grades 2 and older 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. Whoever puts his trust in God’s Son will not be lost but will have life that lasts forever. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to say it is guilty. He sent His Son so the world might be saved from the punishment of sin by Him. 18 Whoever puts his trust in His Son is not guilty. Whoever does not put his trust in Him is guilty already. It is because he does not put his trust in the name of the only Son of God. John 3:16-18 (400 points) For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift- not from works, so that no one can boast. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (200 points) Bible Memory Verses for August 10-14 Juniour Campers For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.
