INTRODUCTION
This document defines the data extraction processes for Freedom products and services. It includes a range of
services that can be engaged in emergency and disaster scenario’s and that can assist organisations in
retrieving data for audit, compliancy and disaster recovery situations.
We have implemented three tiers of service over and above day to day data extraction requirements that will
help meet your compliance and auditing needs.
INCLUDED DATA EXTRACTION SERVICES
Within all services that are delivered from the Freedom Cloud, data extraction is possible as a service request
to European Electronique by contacting your account manager or support contacts.
Freedom provides several types of cloud services in a variety of service types or cloud definitions these are
Infrastructure-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service.
The following table shows which products reside under each cloud definition.

Table 4 - Product Service Types
With each product and cloud delivery type, data extraction is possible via standard mechanisms.
The following section will define for each product how data can be extracted from each service free of charge
and which data extraction services are chargeable and which are included in your subscription (please note
that data extraction for self-service is always a chargeable service).

FREEDOM VIRTUAL DATA CENTER
Freedom virtual data center is elastic cloud platform that enables organisation to create, deploy and manage
entire virtual data centres in the freedom cloud. The elements of this service consist or Memory, CPU,
Network, security, applications, platforms and data and storage.
To extract data from this service, the top level configuration item would be a virtual server, a virtual disk or a
template and the data that resides within them.
DATA ACCESS AND EXTRACTION
Customers have access to their virtual datacentre 24/7 via a web interface, VPN or Remote desktop (if
enabled).
Through these mechanisms it is possible to access services and data through standard windows or Linux based
operating system interfaces. Making data extraction or review simple for small data sets.
The simplest way to extract data would be to simply perform a file transfer of the required data through the
VPN interconnect between the cloud and the customers site.
This is the recommended process to use for small data sets and that are of a non-urgent nature.
Constraints: Customers should be aware that the Freedom cloud is a shared service provision and as such
bandwidth outbound from the Cloud is charged Per GB of data.
BIG DATA, URGENT OR EMERGENCY REQUIREMENTS
By contacting your account manager or support contacts a service request can be raised that will engage our
Freedom support teams.
This will enable customer to address the following requirements
1.
2.
Big Data extraction for large data sets of 100’s of GB’s or event TB’s of Data
Full image extraction of virtual servers and templates and customer defined applications (please note
that this will require the customer to purchase appropriate licensing under the terms and conditions
of any operating system or applications they wish to remove)
Urgent data extraction for audit or compliance requirements.
Emergency and disaster recovery scenario’s where you need to recover your data to new hardware or
another location because of an emergency or disaster recovery situation you are facing.
Images and data can be made available through our FTP service to download data and images.

European Electronique’s “Freedom Backup”, provides cloud based backup service for customers. Freedom
Backup enables organisations to provision a low cost backup solution that removes the need for costly tape
devices and manual process for tape changes. Utilising an existing WAN service Freedom Backup allows
organisation to confidently backup and recovery servers, desktops and applications including support for
virtualisation hypervisors.
To extract data from this service the top level configuration item would be the backup image.
As such Freedom Backup provides a mechanism to download each backup job within the service.
DATA ACCESS AND EXTRACTION
Freedom backup provides web access to your backup portal to manage backup jobs and data retention.
Backup jobs, images and data can provided from a secure download area for customers to access their data
across the Web.
Alternatively our data extraction process provides faster retrieval for emergency or disaster situations.

FREEDOM OPTIMIS
European Electronique’s “Freedom OptiMIS, provides data storage services for customers. Freedom OptiMIS
enables organisations to access and analyse MIS data from either a single or multiple sub-organisation from a
single point of access. Utilising industry standards and web services built on Microsoft back end technologies,
Freedom OptiMIS allows organisations to confidently access KPI style data en-masse from front end systems,
without any impact on the original MIS control systems.
To extract data from this service the top level configuration item would be a database backup image. Lower
level items and options are available and are described here.
Freedom OptiMIS provides mechanisms to download data in a variety of forms.
DATA ACCESS AND EXTRACTION
Freedom OptiMIS provides web access to KPI data through Web Service interfaces. Data can be extracted
through the Web Service interfaces, though this can require customer created extraction utilities. SIF
compliant extraction systems can be used, but requires the feature to be activated by our professional services
engineers.
Alternatively our data extraction process provides faster retrieval for emergency or disaster situations.
