Applied Mathematics Seminar University of Texas at Arlington - Department of Mathematics Proudly Presents Dr. Jianguo Liu Professor and Math Undergraduate Advisor Department of Mathematics University of North Texas Friday, January 29, 2016 2:00 p.m. 311 Pickard Hall “Data Classification, Feature Extraction, and an Application in Bleeding Detection in Endoscopy Images” Abstract: Data classification is a major problem in machine learning. Given a new observation, one needs to determine to which of a set of classes it belongs. In the classification process, feature selection and/or feature extraction are vital to the performance. We use an application in bleeding detection in endoscopy images to illustrate how all of the aspects come into play. A highly effective feature extraction scheme is introduced.
