Position No. 05 - 502243
Please see the attached resume demonstrating my suitability for the position of Crime
Prevention Coordinator with the GN Department of Justice.
I am excited to apply my post-secondary education in economic development and community
planning to new important social uses in crime prevention and restorative justice practices. I have a
great deal of private and public experience in program delivery, procurement, and client service. My
favorite work is drafting plans and policy and working with team implementation to support desired
outcomes in community populations. Designing and writing winning proposals for funding and
requests for proposals has allowed me to actively participate in cross cultural projects throughout
Nunavut, Australia and Cuba over the past 20 years.
My early experience centered on NGO activities of housing, food distribution, safe water,
addiction programming and reintegration for marginalized populations. More recently I have been
involved with the delivery of built form through construction management, administration, land use
planning and economic development.
My responsibilities have largely involved regional teams working independently and as part of a
team communicating online through virtual windows collecting and sharing data and strategy. The
collected data then generates consensus plans to tackle identified problems within our communities
and populations. My most recent work as Senior Planner for CGS involves tabulating data and
providing visioning mandates to communities for their consideration and follow-through. Preparing draft
documents and meeting in communities with residents and councils occupies most of the day to day
work. A current visioning project that has taken root is on the beautification of the community
watersheds and the enhancement of these spaces as new community recreation spaces. Communities
now drive these plans.
I am ready to join a new team and try a new approach to our government mandate to provide
great services to our public by promoting and supporting crime prevention initiatives. I have the same
goal as you, to make Nunavut a better place.
Sincerely,
Corey Dimitruk
