National Festival of Meat Beef Ribs Competitions
Competitions are held within a number of shows displaying the very best of British Beef.
In 2012, competitions have been held in association with Morrisons on their stand at The Royal Highland
Show, Ingliston and The Great Yorkshire Show at Harrogate.
Judged at the Royal Highland Show by Murray Hardy of Scotbeef Ltd., the Championship was awarded to
W.A. Fettes, Braes of Enzie, Buckie for a Beef Shorthorn cross Heifer, born 14/06/10 weighing 378.7 kg
and grading R4L; the Reserve was a Shorthorn cross Steer from S.W. Maidland, Smithyhillock, Rosehearty,
Fraserburgh, born 29/04/10, weighing 383.1 kg and grading R4L.

At the Great Yorkshire Show, Norman Kyle of Brampton, Cumbria adjudicated and placed J.T. Barton,
White Rushes Farm, Ashton in Makerfield, Wigan, Lancs, Limousin cross Steer as Champion, weighing
453.2 kg; grading U+4L and with Reserve Champion from P. Hayward of Slack Hall Farm, Chapel En Le
Frith, High Peak, Derbys, a Limousin cross Heifer, weighing 372.8 kg and grading U+4L
