Job Descriptions for School Health Centers School Health Center Coordinator Position Summary The individual in this position is responsible for the oversight of a school health center (SHC) on a high school campus. Oversight includes directing the work of all provider staff at the health center, supervising the administrative staff, and building relationships with the school administration, the school district and other collaborating service providers. Duties and Responsibilities About this Tool In Alameda County, provider agencies are contracted to run each school health center (SHC). In addition to hiring medical, dental and behavioral health providers, this lead agency employs a SHC Coordinator to oversee the SHC and act as a liaison with the county. The Director will facilitate and oversee the expansion of school health centers, as well as oversee the implementation of third party billing. Additionally, the Director will assist in the expansion of satellite clinics and in driving quality improvement. Reports to: Director of Adolescent Health Work Hours: Full-time, 32 hours per week; 80% FTE Duties and Responsibilities Facilitates and oversees the expansion of school health centers in coordination with the Director of Adolescent Health and the Community Health Center Administration. Participates in budget planning for the school health centers, with the Grants and Contracts department, senior management, and the Director of Adolescent Health. Helps to ensure a successful integration of medical, behavioral health, health education, and other services at school health centers. Experience working in school-based health care, adolescent health and/or with school systems. Experience managing employees successfully and/or demonstrated success in leading teams effectively. Demonstrated success in seeking, writing, and securing grant funding. Project management experience is desired. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple budgets effectively. Ability to work well independently, and within a team environment. High attention to detail, ability to prioritize effectively, and the ability to creatively problem solve. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
